Thanks! Looks like they're low on the list, but higher than Barclays LOL!
I'm a bit concerned now as to whether my credit rating will allow me to open a new account with them. I had no problems opening the Santander one. I'm going to book an appointment with them but explain upfront that I want to switch but am not sure whether my credit rating is good enough, and see how that goes. I can explain that I have just paid off a large chunk of debt.0 -
Bob - that does sound similar to what this is! I.e. bl00dy hard!
Ally - you can apparently skip any obstacles you don't want to do, if it's something you want to do.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
- Also - ordered a gift for someone from eBay. Paid a week ago on Sunday, got a message saying they'd send on Thursday (Royal Mail Special Delivery) and it still isn't here. I need it before Saturday! This is reminding me why I am suspicious of eBay. Any advice?
Contact the eBay seller or login to eBay > Help Contact > Select the item > follow the instructions on screen.
Also if it's Special Delivery it should be trackable on the Royal Mail website. Get the tracking number from the seller and punch it in here and it should tell you where it is. (Link)

Greetings September Savers,
Much better weather today. Very sunny & am cracking on with jobs.
Today's money saving efforts:
*Used still-hot bath water to soak grubby draught excluder.
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff, plus another load on full price (Bah!) - I wanted to make use of the good drying weather instead of getting the heated airer out, so I've probably been money-saving in the long run, as tomorrow's forecast looks to be wet.
*Did a bit of handwashing as not worth running another load just yet. Just spun it & pegged it out.
*Did rubber chicken. It did a roast dinner last night. Have divvied up the leftovers to make chicken madras (tonight), chicken & mushroom supreme (tomorrow) & 2 days of sandwiches for packed lunch with leftover stuffing. Carcass in slow cooker for stock.
*Picked runner beans. Will slice, blanch & freeze them this afternoon.
*Went for a hair cut. Washed it myself first thing & just paid for a cut. £10. IT's gone from long into a sharp bob. Pleased with it. Such a saving on what I used to pay out when I had a cut, colour, style every 6 weeks or so at quite an expensive salon. I colour it myself now & concentrate on paying for the bit I can't do, which is the cut.
*Pick tomatoes - like Dawn, I will need to take the washing up bowl down to the greenhouse with me. I need 600g for a slow cooker recipe later this week, but there are so many, I think I'll arrange to go & pick mr f up from the bus station later this afternoon & pick up more vinegar, brown sugar, raisins & onions so that I can make tomato & ale chutney tomorrow. It was yum last year when I made it.
*Water & feed greenhouse veggies & courgettes.
*Have a camping summit with mr f over dinner tonight & make a list of what we need to do before our trip & what food we need to buy, do we have sufficient gas cannisters, etc. Being organised always saves cash.
*Ate leftover pineapple for lunch - had forgotten it was in the fridge but it was still ok.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Posted ebay parcel.
*All leisure activity will be free today - have updated my blog, intend to cast on next knitting project & will read a bit more of the book I started last night.
*Still doing Use-it-up - have finished a cut open hand cream & antihistamine cream this week, am still finishing a lipstick by getting the last 1/3 of it out with a lip brush, my mascara had dried up but is still working fine when it has been standing in a mug of boiling water for a couple of minutes. Have strange herbal-scented unguent which I received in a gift basket a while ago, think will try using it as hand cream so that it gets used. Can't bear wasting stuff & sending more plastic to landfill when I haven't even used the product. Typically, the rubbish conditioner I bought a few weeks ago is like the Magic Porridge Pot in the fairy story - it NEVER runs out! Unfortunately for the state of my tresses, it also unfortunately never conditions hair properly either.......one example of when buying the cheapest doesn't always work out.
OK, must go & tackle the runner bean mountain now,

i have some petrol gift cards and I will be using them to gas up until they run out. i should be able to get through the month.
sending lunch with the kids to school tomorrow...school lunch is $2.75 USD.
going to market to pick up a few items--my budget is $50-but i think it will be much less as i only need items for the lunches; we have everything else.
My other thing will be NOT spending money online shopping...this is the biggie for me. SOOOO hard not to do.0 -
Foxgloves, any chance of the tomato and ale chutney recipe please?0

Bob - It's Tough Mudder which is 10-12 miles with ridiculous obstacles thrown in (anyone fancy getting electrocuted?!) I did ParkRun on Saturday (3 miles) and a 4 mile run on Sunday and Monday - now all I have to do is manage the 3 distances add together in one go!
Circus sounds fun!
My DD2 does those 'obstacle'/ mud / water / tough type runs. She is bonkers (by her own admission) :rotfl:0 -
Evening All
Dawn - It's good for the soul
David - do you have twitter? If so follow Kathy wolk Stanley she is an American who writes the Non Consumer Advocate blog. She was one of the originals who did The Capsule as well. I think she's great for local tips for the US on thrift..her boys are late teens/college age but she often writes useful tips on where she gets food deals etc.
Today went really well. Takings were very good. And I managed to do all my jobs ok. Sitting watching a rain storm feeling very glad I got home from the docs before it began. Chilli stretched with a large handful of red lentils is on the stove. Happy days
