    Morning DFW-ers,

    Thanks for the starter
    CCL and DNM.

    Operation Happiness and Sanity continues. I'm trusting OH to go MSE-style shopping alone this morning :rotfl: and I'm going to job-seek and sort out some things around the house and wait (again) for two important phone calls. Hoping OH manages to get most of things on the Town To Do list done. She sometimes gets distracted!

    Nillionaire Month Three:

    * Checked Finances online.
    OK. Still solvent.

    * Check broadband allowance.
    I left my computer on over night last night. Oops.

    * Just one caffeinated drink today. Will finish up fruit flavoured tea granules and drink tap water instead. Won't use any milk.

    * Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight. Done.

    * Towels out on the line. Done.

    * Job-seeking tasks. Done.

    * Listen to free BBC podcasts a second time before deleting them. (Link)

    * Watch DVDs from cupboard.

    * OH to return dodgy Argos whisk and broken Aldi sunglasses. Success on the whisk. £4.99 broken whisk replaced with £5.49 new one. Refund on the sunglasses! Yay.

    * Bake some homemade bread and make soup from frozen stock, leftover veg and frozen sliced onion tops. Done.

    *Make omelette from cheese crumbs. Done.

    * Deep clean stainless steel cutlery by soaking in laundry stain remover granules. Done.

    * Called Council Tax. They've finally agreed I owe them nothing this month. They say we owe £61 in October when it should be £10 but I still have time to sort this out. The main thing is we haven't defaulted.

    * Read meters. Done.

    Thought for the day:

    "
    Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength." Corrie Ten Boom

    ...still adding to the list...

    Have a good day all. :p

    * Check banks
    * Take lunch to work
    * Check FPL
    * Update signature to reflect mortgage overpayment going out!
    * Book 6 circuit sessions as it works out cheaper
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Flatten receipts and upload to COS
    * Book train tickets for boss via QuidCo
    * Do price comparison for car insurance as renewal quote has come through - go via TCB/QuidCo
    * Go to circuits
    * Dinner from stores

    Oooh it's a new month! How exciting!

    I had a great weekend, wasn't too expensive either. Mum came down on Friday night and helped me measure up for a trouser block so I can sew my own jeans. Then we had pulled pork which was so tasty! On Saturday I visited a gin distillery with another friend who was staying and bought a bottle of gin. Expensive but I had budgeted for it. We stopped in a cafe and I had a slice of cake. Then we went home and I made a gorgeous lasagne (if I may say so myself, it was divine) and afterwards my friend and I went out for waffles but shared one between us which was perfect.

    Sunday a little more expensive as I treated myself to getting my nails done (never had them done before!) but it wasn't too expensive. We also went and had back massages at the Chinese herbal shop which was £5 for 10 minutes and felt amazing! I'm thinking of making that my weekend treat so I don't get tempted to buy expensive make-up or food just because it's the weekend. £5 to have my back sorted is pretty good going (though it did hurt!)

    This week I am going to keep it cheap. BF's dad and partner are down at the weekend and we're going out to a Lebanese restaurant which is usually quite cheap.

    Then next weekend I'm going to London with a friend to spend my FREE £100 worth of clothes vouchers! Budgeted a bit for coffee and train ticket but mostly it'll be a cheap weekend as we don't tend to do loads.

    Anyway, onto today!

    :starmod: [strike]Reconcile YNAB[/strike]
    :starmod: Complain to Barclays about account fee
    :starmod: Buy healthy lunch at Asda
    :starmod: Make BF go to postie for me :D

    I'm considering switching my bank account too, but I'm so torn as to whether it's worth the hassle. I'm a bit peed off regarding my current account with Barclays. I've put in a complaint with them and they might honour my request or they might not...

    But I am starting to think whats the point of sticking with a bank when no bank offers you anything worth staying? BF and I have moved our utilities current account away from Barclays to Santander but that account manages itself.

    I now only have an ISA and a Barclays current account and I'm not getting any benefits. But there is a new HSBC offer called 'Save Together' which gives you a great ISA rate, £120 to switch, and then £10 a month every month I deposit in the ISA (which I do, every month). In 12 months time I'd be £240 up! And what are Barclays offering me?

    But the HSBC offer times out today. Should I just take the plunge and do it?

    Anyone with HSBC? Is there banking app good?

    Also I am thinking of quitting the gym. I signed up 2 months ago and I'm just terrible for going. I only like going to classes, which cost £6.50 if I do PAYG so even if I went to that class twice a week I'm only a few quid over how much I'm paying for standard membership. And so far I haven't mustered going twice a week yet! I am going to write to cancel it today.

    Oh Dawn what a bad time you are having with that new pup. Won't OH help a bit to give you some rest?

    Twiggy - meant to say yesterday go girl with the two weekend runs! How far is muddy whatsit?

    LegoMum- sorry hubby is sick. Poor thing. :(

    Well my small things so far
    1. Found 1p on my way to work.
    2. Loaded 2 reciepts onto COS and Clicksnap for 4p.
    3. Checked my tips jar. It has 33p in as of now. I lifted a couple of ££ out yesterday to add back into the float as I was low on £ coins. So will cash myself those out later plus whatever is in there at COP today.
    4. As today is a new month I did the Mr T survey for 25 points that you can only do once a month. Check the bottom of your reciept if you don't already do this.
    5. Cycled to work.
    6. OH is booked off till Friday as son starts back Thursday for a half day so I can't manage the lesser pick up time (12.35 anyone?) I am constantly amazed that between 2 of us working full time we have barely ever used wrap around care. It must be such a strain having to pay for breakfast club after school club etc. But that is why I hang in there sometimes with my crazy work life balance. Because it just about does during term time!
    7. Just had a poster guy from a circus show up and ask if he can put up a poster in exchange for 2 adult passes worth £35 when we spend £4 on a circus brochure. Yes please!

    Think that's it so far. Did a big budget check last night and logged all spends in my free app.

    Have to go and have a whooping cough jab on the way home as apparently it is on the rise in London and if I have it it will help Baby Bob until he/she is old enough to have their own jabs.

    Wow that sounds kind of awesome and also scary. Can you really be electrocuted?

    Reminds me of the British Military Fitness (britmil) 10k I did in Surrey a few years ago. Having done plenty of 10ks up to that point and also being at peak fitness, used to do hockey training once a week plus a match or two most Saturday and then do britmil normal park training twice a week, I really struggled with that scuse my french beeatch! Running through water traps full of mud up to your thighs anyone?? Leppard crawling on your tum under netting, throwing yourself over 6 ft high obstacles. That's not a 10k! But I loved it despite my worst 10k time ever :) I miss running.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all, you're making me feel very lazy with all this talk of exercise and being productive. I'm at work, and have just had a cookie I made yesterday, in the hope that I'll have a sugar rush to get through my work to-do list.

    I'm having a mixed MSE time:

    - Some good things (getting vouchers from I-Say - £40, and finally getting paid for some private work I did - nearly £800 :beer:) have really brightened the week

    - Some expensive things too. Got first bathroom quote and it was almost £4000 :eek: Bob - I know you said last week to allow £5000 so you weren't far off. We have another quote this week so we'll have to see what that comes out with. Don't know if I've mentioned that I have an OH, but he's currently working away, so I feel like some tradespeople just see a lone woman and think 'great, she won't know anything!' But on the other hand, I do want quality work done so we don't have to think about replacing it for ages

    - On that note, think about bathroom saving fund and how I can save enough by November (when the guy is available to do it if the other quote isn't any cheaper). This will probably set back getting carpets done, and I did want everything done by Christmas.

    - Another bad thing - my pay for the last two months has been £300 more, and now it's gone back to normal. A real shame, as that extra was making my savings look great. I think it's to do with my lease car, but I should probably double check.

    - Also - ordered a gift for someone from eBay. Paid a week ago on Sunday, got a message saying they'd send on Thursday (Royal Mail Special Delivery) and it still isn't here. I need it before Saturday! This is reminding me why I am suspicious of eBay. Any advice?

    Definitely having a 'I don't want to be a grown up' day today! :rotfl:

    The only thing that stops me wanting to do Tough Mudder is the electrical obstacle. Can't bear static shocks, let alone electric ones! :rotfl:
