  • £16.25 Amazon payment now in my bank account.
£8 redeemed from Pinecone and also received via Paypal.

Bought a book for 1p on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Had been searching for a copy for ages and although there was £2.80 postage to add it was still cheap as no charity shops round here ever have it in. When it arrived it was very badly damaged because of the pathetic packaging by the seller but at that price I didn't ask for a refund but just mentioned disappointment and poor packaging in the feedback. Plus, it took a lot longer to come than expected, wasn't even posted until 4 days after seller said it had been dispatched. Seller must have read the feedback because he gave me an unasked for instant total refund and told me to keep the book anyway:j. Have glued and patched it up and it's still readable and as it's only for me I'm happy. So am adding the £2.81 to my total because I ended up with a 'free' book that I'd gladly have paid more than that for just to get hold of one. Is that a legitimate claim please, Aesop?

So, am adding a total of £27.06. It's still a struggle this month though!

£2.20 super market savings, coupons and vouchers.....

Really struggling to get going this month.

In the plus aside managed to shop around and get a better deal on car insurance and the car service is much less than I feared .....so around £400 less to pay out than I had budgeted for so all good.

    well done on car.

to get you motivated a little:

    1) have you had any ppi in the past and have you had any catalogues in the past?

    2) have you checked if you have any lost bank accounts?

    3) have you checked if you ever had premium bonds you have forgotten about?

    4) Did you take out an experian policy?

    5) have you checked your council tax band?

hope that helps get you a little motivated, I have more.

omg am loving the ebay fairy or lynnejk or Xandersmum, whoever has sent me good luck, or the new moon/blue moon that means prosperity!

I have sold another item on ebay that I have had for over a year and been constantly relisting the last month. And I sold 2 yesterday, have a bid on another.

just need this stuff to leave my home! would prefer more money for them naturally but I might actually have a cupboard again!

ouch! I checked ours on the council website, I didn't contact them, and the only other houses on our street are a different band are the flats.

You need to compare to other houses in your street and don't contact council until you are sure you are in the wrong band.

    anyone have a topcashback account??

have you got a barclays bespoke account?

if not, sign up through topcashback for the bespoke, earn cashback. And then do the 5 searches every 24 hours using bespoke to get them to price you lower on items you wish to buy. Currently paying 42p for each search :j be quick, am sure won't last long.

if you aren't signed upto tcb why not!

also found out a friend has won luckyphone today :j
  • We only contacted the council after checking online first. All houses in our spread-out village (we don't live on a street as such) are different (ranging from tiny cottages to a manor house and all sizes in between) so there are various bands here but the house most like ours was in a cheaper band even though they have had an extension and various other things done so we thought ours should be less. We weren't too popular because they reassessed ours and theirs and both went up a band!

whoops :( I have no answer, except yes be careful. I live on a terraced street near a busy high street, so am sure all the houses around here are correct on the evalutation unfortunately.
