Im going to the bank toady to sort out how much money I can pay off extra on my barclay card this month. I dont need to tell everyone here how good it feels to be paying extra off a debt.
This wont include the £250 im aiming to make from my ebay items. I have £184 in paypal so far, I listed a couple of items as buy it now for more than they seemed to sell for, and they went straight away. People must have been bored on the bank holiday!!!
Ive got lots of things to go and post so i will do that after dinner. I will also be able to update my sig today for the start of sept and i cant wait to see how much i have payed off.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
OMG, went to the bank, couldnt believe it, I just wrote out my new sig and cant believe what an impact i have been able to make on my debt in such a short space of time.
Some of it was due to getting bank charges back and some due to SS making me a brilliant sum of money. Over £300 has come from me just not spending it on useless crap! I cant believe how wasteful i must have been before starting this diary.
Im desperate for my CRB to come back so i can start doing my agency work and get the debt down even quicker.
I keep trying to use the snowball calculator to see what effect this has on my debt free date but its not working.
I have even brought a old account back to life and payed in money for next years car tax and professional registration fees, it was only being lucky enough to get my charges back that i could pay them this month!!!DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Hi Lunar,
What an inspirational thread. I looked for it after you posted on my twitterings as you and i have- sorry had- similar amounts to ditch. And i thought i was doing well taking an awful £7 necklace back to a shop when I would have just kept it previously. Suppose we all have to start somewhere!!
Fantastic work!

Believe me Bleachbird, at the end of the month every penny add up! I have so many things i should have returned in the past. I have realised every penny is important now if i want to be free of this debt.
I think it will become harder as time goes on to stick to everything, its a novelty at the moment, and i am a very impulsive person. I know how hard im going to have to work to keep up with this. Im relying on everyone here to give me a kick if i start slipping!!!
Thanks to everyone for the support, we can all get rid of our debts with eachthers support.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -

I too am a very impulsive person, that's how I got in this mess. I know what you mean about the novelty value - I've fallen off the wagon many times this last year, but a visit here gets me back on track.
I guess as we were happy to spend impulsively eventually we learn to save impulsively
As there's a few of us on the £30k mark reading your diary, 2010 - 2012 should see a large drop in the level on personal debt when we reach that glorious DFDThe man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. - Chinese Proverb

I think im going to use the pesky debt challenge money to buy my christmas persents, i finally reached my target and made £272 after postage and fees. I hav ebought a few bits throught the year but have loads to get. i normally spend well over £600 so this will be a real challenge for me.
any suggestions for presents will be greatly apriciated. christmas is my favourite time of year and i normaly go way over the top. I had put £500 aside for christmas from my bank charges but i really want to keep this in the account for emergencies. I have got rid of all my credit cards as if i have them for emergencies i know i will end up using them.
So this is my challenge, all christmas pressies for £272!!!DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Wow! What a fantastic month you've had on the debt busting front! :T
There's a few threads over on the Special Occasions forum that might provide inspiration for Christmas present ideas. I especially like the ideas of the baskets that people have made and there's tons of ideas on there for various baskets / people.0 -

Lol, I got all excited about the hampers too - glad I'm not the only one!! Strangely I'm slightly disappointed that I bought most of my presents in the sales already. Still, I can make up a lovely hamper for my Mum and best friend and can start saving stuff for hampers for everyne else next year. Not sure I'll be able to make mine as professional as some of those on there though.0
