I currently have 3 credit cards

    Barclaycard Balance £1450 @ 19% limit £2000
    Mint Balance £8941 @ 25% limit £9100
    Egg Balance £9467 @17.9% limit £9500

I have just been accecpted for a natwest credit card with a limit of £4200. it has 0% for 13 months but charges 2.5% to balance transfer onto it. I was thinking i could transfer half the money from the mint card which has the highest interest rate. I will have to pay £100 for the transfer but this wll be covered by less than two months of payments from what i would have payed in interest.

My question is what should i do then. know i wont be tempted to use the cards for spending ive made that mistake too many times. Should i try and shuffle other balances around to reduce the interest rates or should i just reduce the credit limit on the mint card?

To be honest im just in shock that they would give more credit to someone in this position, I guess thats how we all got into this mess in the first place!

feeling realy low now. barclaycard have refused me a balance transfer as i had 2 missed payments on other accounts back in june. i thought after being aceptet for a new card things would be looking up now. obviously not.

the thing that makes me really mad is they would hapily let me spend on the card! they are so irresponsible, surly if i cant have a transfer they should reduce my limit not encourage me to get into more debt.

Im still waiting for my new credit card to arrive to start transfering my balances. ive decided to try and concentrate on the mint card. i know the balance is higher and its a huge target, but the intrest is the highest and i took out loads of cash on that card.

updated my sig and im pleased at how my totals are coming down, i would love it to be quicker as im sure we all would. i am just really impatient i guess.

well ive transfered my first balance from mint to the nw card, they said there was no problem with doing that. im going to wait until it has cleared, reduce the mint balance and then apply for a new card. i will also be phoning to reduce my barclay card limit, hopefully every bit will count in improving my credit rating.

im so close to being sub 30k now, hopeully i will reach that target before christmas.

My OH keep s asking what to get me for christmas, i have no clue what to ask for, im so addicted to saving money and paying off the debt. i was thinking of asking him to book us a weekend away, at least i couldnt be tempted to list it on ebay!

  • Well done on transferring Lunar! Barclays have been reducing credit limits, according to the press few days ago. They'll be more than excited to do it for u voluntarily.

Weekend away sounds good, it'll help you to wind down and look at things out of the box as pundits say!

  • A weekend away sounds like a lovely idea. Good thing is you don't have to spend huge amounts of money.

Looks like your doing really well, and your right money saving is really addictive! I've started my Christmas shopping and I love bargin hunting now!
