Oh God, what did I say?! The only reason everyone in my line of work knows me is because there aren't that many women, and I'm the only one at my location, that's all! Nothing exciting, I promise! Lunar will vouch for the fact that I don't do anything half as exciting or worthwhile as she does!

Hope you managed to get the essay done Lunar?

That essay will take me forever, i did about 600 words and then deleted 200 of them! then theres the referencing, oh god i think i need my emergency dairy milk just thinking about it.

I dont mind saying im a nurse as there are thousands of women in that, however dont really want to post the speciality i work in. Personally i love my job, but i truly think every job is worthwhile and important so long as we do it the best we can.

thought i would post a quick update, Of the £34 i had left in my purse, i still have £26 for the rest of the month and its only 11 days till payday so it should be managable i think. especially since my oh took the car out for a bit yesterday and filled it with petrol for me. ive only been putting an odd tenner in here and there, poor car must have forgotten what a full tank was! this was really good news as now i wont have to fill it up for 5 or 6 weeks if im careful with when i use it.

Im hoping to be able to make a big ish overpayment at the end of this month, i dont think i will be below 30k but i should be by next month.

Im still waiting to get the result on my ohs virgin card so i can see how much i will be able to balance transfer across.

and with all the home cooking you're going to be doing until the end of the month, you might even have change from your £26! Good result on the free fuel!

That 30k is a massive psychological barrier - really hope you can squeeze yourself under it! It might be worth checking all your balances, just to see if there are any that are slightly less than you've been calculating? I found out when I did my revised SOA that I owed a couple of hundred less than I expected on a few things that I hadn't checked for a while!

no spend day for me today so still £26 in the purse with 10 days to go. your right panda im so excited for the day when im under 30k, ill have to recheck my balances today.

Oh got rejected for the virgin card. Looked at his credit report and i think its because he has never had any credit and hasnt changed address on electral role yet. i had applied for the same card and got rejected the day before dont know if that made it worse. looks like i will be stuck paying interest for a while yet.

Hi Lunar - just been reading your diary, looks like you are going really well! shame about the set back with the virgin card, but give it a bit more time and i;m sure they will give you a nice big 0% limit!

That's really c**p about the Virgin card. How long have you been at your address - are you sure there isn't any bad credit associated to the address from before you guys were there? If he moved fairly recently then that often has a bearing as well on the credit score, so don't be too disheartened. Makes me sick that they turn away solid, reliable, professional people - when I was unemployed (unpaid maternity to be exact!) Virgin handed me £10,200 on a plate!

Don't give up just because of that setback though. If OH is keen to help, would his bank give him a card? Although I know you won't want to ask!

    Night-night for now!

Hi mel, thanks for the encouragment. i gues ill just have to be more patient with the credit cards! well done on paying off so much debt so far, i love reading everyones sigs, and seeing their progress it keeps me motivated.

We have only lived in this house 2 months panda, i didnt realise others debts at this address can affect your credit rating, ill have to look properly at his and my credit report to see if anything has come up. I had seen some red letters from o2 for one of the past owners when we first moved in. i wonder if this could be part of the problem. He has already said he will look into a different card when we find out exactly what the problem with the virgin card was.

Oh well at least i have moved £4000 onto interest free this month!

Hi Lunar! Haven't been about much past few days as we've been working our betty-swollocks off trying to get the house clean for this open weekend - which sadly has been a bit of a waste of time so far! Never mind, house is spotless!

I worked for First Direct many, many years ago as a temp, processing account application forms. So I really don't know the credit system inside out at all, but there were a couple of indicators that applied to the address you're applying for the credit at, and there's a good chance that if the previous owner defaulted on his phone bill, he probably didn't pay much else either!

Def check your credit files, but sadly even if they're squeaky clean, a bad address history can - unfairly - affect you. The credit score falls down a bit too because of your recent move. That's why I'm always banging on about getting credit from existing companies you deal with - your own bank knows you, and is far more likely to look at it fairly than just the address.

    Good luck!
