I seem to remember Penneys/Primark has small hot water bottles last year with fluffy covers and they were quite cheap.

I bought one today with a lovely fluffy cover (colour choices pink or cream) for £4 in Primark.

Thanks a million! I'll pop in over the weekend and get one. I love anything snuggly like that.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Summer is officially over, I dismantled our garden swing and put in garage and tarpaulined up the barbeque last weekend. Kept a garden chair easily available in case of Indian Summer... I'm so optimistic

Hi all, Not a big poster on this thread but I read it regularly.
For anyone still looking for fleeces, last night my local ASDA had their £2 cream fleeces on offer. 2 for £3.

  • Oh wow, last week our Asda only had brown, I got a couple for wrapping up on the sofa but DD would prefer light ones to line her bedroom curtains. She thought of using the pet fleeces on sale at our local petrol station for £2.99, they are the same size as the Asda ones and a nicer, silky fleece, but have paw prints all over them!

I used to love these when I was younger, might have to look for some when I go to library on Saturday, but will they be as good as I remember?

I didn't read them when I was little (only watched the programmes) but I adore these books now I'm in my 40's. I'm sitting here thinking 'I could do that - I'd love a go at that!' :D
I'm wondering if I appreciate these kinds of stories more now because I'm really enjoying the frugal, OS type of ways they had. Tips to be picked up from the Ingalls I think. :T:D

No probs. We're living in ours at the moment. Best £20 i ever spent!

How big are these? I'm tall-ish and round-ish. They sound fab as long as they aren't skimpy.

The risk is that we're all going to spend so much on these keeping warm ideas we might as well have put the heating on in the end!! But I love not being dependent on it. As I've run out of oil I can't put the heating on if I wanted to. I've had to order some though as I have children from a softer family coming to stay in a couple of weeks, I could cope much longer without if it wasn't for that but I think once I've had it on it will be too hard to resist.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it before but while i was in my local morrisons today they were selling slankets for £10.

Er.....I have to admit I hadn't heard of these. I thought it was maybe a typo!

But after Googling it I found the Slanket website. I roared when I saw the "Siamese". I had visions of OH getting off the settee forgetting he was attached and trailing me behind him along the floor!

    I think I'll stick to a solo.

I'm 5-10 and very generously proportioned, so doubt if one of these comfortably would fit ME.

However, I've been 'mentally designing' something to construct out of a fleece blanket - maybe poncho-style - for sitting at the comp in the winter months. It would need to be easy on/easy off; have side seams - to keep out draughts/keep in warmth; and have openings for my hands to be typing.

May give it a go later today - as long as none of my kids turn up with the dgk's!

If it is the same ones as on this website they are 60"x95", look pretty big in the pictures, unless all the models have tiny heads!
I have to say I'm quite tempted, think I'll suggest we pop into Morrisons!

As for cost I think you have to weigh up the longevity of your heat saving solutions, if it will help for many years then it will be worth it in the long run.
