newlywed - you could always attach the lining form underneath the tabs - ie along where the actual curtain starts so youd have just a big square of lining if you get me.Need to get more candles in and I have already superstocekd the loo rolls as its the one thign i always forget and i even have soem of those super roll of liek kitchen towel thigns stored away int eh same cupboard jsut in case!!!!got to get to work on my storecupboard nowTime to find me again0

are we in for a bad winter this year? have started stocking up on bits and pieces but mainly because my money drops to smp:mad:0
-
:hello: I think the best and easiest filling,is an old pillow or duvet (hollowfibre or polyester type)just wash it through, dry it thoroughly, pull it into pieces & fill your cover
you can also fill an old stocking or a leg off tights with it until it's the length/width that you want it before covering in material
try old tights/stockings for filling as well (just keep washing them & putting them in a bag till you have enough)
My mum used to do this! :rotfl:
I have also used both of these for soft/knitted toys/cushions
I NEVER buy fillings! :jThe object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane — Marcus Aurelius0 -

I have to tell someone!!!! I jsut had my first gas and electric bill form good ole Swalec. My gas bill for 3 months was £36!!! and my electric was £67!!! and bearing in mind i pay £25 a month on each - woohoo!!!!!!! Its all thanks to this thread nad last years one - if my gas bill ends up lookign like that all the time ill be landed!!!!! Its bloody cold here today though - got water on but not heating and last ngith i ended up sitting on the floor wrapped in my duvet watchign Heros but i was happy and still no heating and even if the heating is on the thermostat is set to 18 degrees and all the non used radiators are switched off. Think today i might wash the fleeces though adn get them back under the bottom bed sheets as i slept of these last week - dreaded headlice invasion and couldnt get bottom sheet dried quick enough - and it was lovely and snug. Also am going to get duck tape for the windows todayTime to find me again0

i've just got back from morrisons and i bought a 13.5tog king size duvet for £8.99 on offer. we have at the mo a 4.5 on bed , hubby got chilly last night even with blankets on. our 10.5 got ruined the other day by a cat having an accident. so i wasn't willing to spend too much on a new one.
i am planning to put the 4.5 under the fitted sheet for extra warmth.
they also have 13.5 single ones for £4.99 but didn't have any. so plan to get one of those ,a s my daughter has one for her bed , but son had a 10.5 i thin on his. might even be a 4.5 will check later.0 -
well i put the 13.5 tog duvet on and the 4.5 tog under the fitted sheet.
omg i had such a cozy night . it was wonderful. best night sleep i've had in ages.
only prob the 13.5 is so thick and my pillows are so thin i kept getting lost. but do plan on gettin some more pillows anyway. they were on the list to get before the duvet. but duvet was on offer and warmth was needed more.
i am going to get the rest of throws out of airing cupboard and wash them for the sofa i think. and see if i can find the spare pillows we had just to keep us going until i buy some new.
i also need to sort out the cupboards so i can find space to stock up on winter warmers and basic's.0 -
Time for me to dive in as well :hello:
OH has chopped a mountain of logs for the woodburning stove ... aim is to use as little solid fuel as possible this year
Garden and veg patches tidied ready for the winter
Blackberry jam and redcurrant jam glistening in jars
Sloe gin festering
Quince brandy ... not sure what its doing, looks very odd at the moment
Most of Christmas presents bought ... never been so organised before :j
Spare duvet put on to use as a mattress topper .... bed looks inches higher and very welcoming
Fleece blanket dug out so I can cuddle up in it when watching TV
Warm jumpers, fleeces and boots dug out
Thoughts turning to lovely winter recipes ... HM soups and stews and dumplings, steamed puds, jacket potatoes cooked in the woodburning stove in foil, crumpets and toasted marshmallows toasted in front of the fire ...
bring it onThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
And roasted chestnuts on the fire too!! Going tomorrow to get some. Did Morrisons have king size quilts too, did you notice? I might get a spare for daughter as she feels cold and I suspect they are financially a bit iffy at the moment.
Other than that, I'm ready too.0
