Moisture traps - ideal for use anywhere where damp is a problem - Quote from packaging - "absorbs moisture & humidity, protects against damp & mildew, combats musty odours" - basically plastic trough with ventilated snap-on lid, pack of chemical crystals to put into trough - put it on widowsill, then when windows get runny with moisture - it absorbs it all (have to pour away water every morning - be careful as you lift it up coz it WILL be full of water). Last one I had kept me going for the whole winter. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Thank you pagangirl, I think I have seen these things discussed in one of the OS threads, and didn't figure out what they were talking about. Someone I think said that you can get them in the pound shop - will have to look around for them.
Sorry just another question, do you know if the chemicals do give out fumes (as I am really sensitive to things like parfumes and chemical scents)? Thanks again!

Caterina - never noticed chemical smell, but did see pine scented ones in Wilko's which were a bit dearer £4.49? Haven't seen them in our local Poundland, but a few weeks ago they did have them in the 99p shop although they were smaller. Good hunting !:hello:When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

I bought a twin pack of moisture traps from the 99p shop - I have them in my kitchen cupboards as I have terrible mould/mildew in them otherwise  Just a short while back I had to throw out 4 bags of flour that were brand new as they had gone mouldy!:mad::mad: I have one in my understairs cupboard (bigger one bought from a DIY shop) and another one which is refillable in the bathroom on the windowsil, which I got from Wilkos last year. I bought a tub of refil crystals as well and have only needed to refil it once so still have plenty left in the tubCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I'm like you Caterina,I can't take perfumes and chemically things but I can assure you as someone who has these traps in every room and cupboard they don't have any adverse affects. My house has extremely thick solid walls and without these traps my house would be wallowing it's own juices.I find then indispensible to keep damp away.I don't get any mould problems at all using these and I use them all year round in the fitted wardrobes as they are against the outside walls and get a lot of condensation otherwise.0 -
