Just a quick pic of the draught excluder made from bubble wrap, a sarong and 2 hair bands :rotfl: ... It fits nice n snug..just had to squish the dip out of it where hubby stood on it  ... I was thinking (i do sometimes :p ) For a normal single door you could probably do the same thing with bubble wrap but use an old pillow case to wrap it in ;) again-nice n easy for keeping clean :T

That's a great quick and easy way to make a draught excluder.
I just need to remember where I put my roll of bubble wrap and I'm sorted.

    Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that my local B & M Store (Derby) have lovely brushed cotton sheets,Single £3.99 Double £6.99 i think ! King £8.99 FLAT Sheets I bought single for DS bed, they have washed fine, HTH someone

Thanks for that, shall take a look in our local one this week.

    :)
  • Thanks to everyone for ideas and advice on wind-up lanterns. Will look in Woolies when I'm next in town.

Wendybird - I too would like to know where you got your windup torch/radio/charger from please. Can you get FM radio on it? What's the reception like?

Kittie - someone mentioned here that LaRedoute have flannel sheets etc. Had a look at them. Lovely colours. Dearer than some, but they do have duvet covers, not all ranges do. No idea of the quality though, but I'd like some sheets in a dark colour and I might just buy a couple of pillow cases to see what they're like.

Sat out in the sun for a couple of hours today but it was nippy when I went indoors, but not enough to put the heating on, so wrapped up in my fleece blanket for a while.

My new slippers (bought through Quidco) arrived yesterday. They're like a boottee, with a warm fleecy lining and proper rubber sole. Need ones like that now as I have osteoporsis (not that I'd know) and a touch of arthritis so not good if I fall. The make is Pavers. Can't stand cold feet and these should keep me very warm and toasty.
    Dec GC £100/76.61/16.46/10.19 - £103.26
    Jan GC £100/64.20/20.91 (£14.89 left)
  • Thanks to whoever mentioned play.com for wind up torches.
I won a £5 voucher for them from quidco and so far haven't found what I wanted to buy....now I know :T

I already have one wind up torch . It's really useful when walking the dog in the dark to find the 'stuff' I have to pick up!

I would imagine www.tchibo.co.uk will be featuring flanalette sheets and duvet sets as it gets nearer to winter. Their quality is always excellent. Might be worth registering for the newsletter email which tells you what they feature each week.

I bought my partner a very nice check blue and white duvet with pillowcases and a flanalette double sheet. Very cosy it is too.

Today in a cheapo shop I bought these really far out tv viewing fleeces/blankets for £3.99 each.
They have a space to put your feet in and a pocket for the remote control. When not in use they fold up into their very own cushion cover!

Brilliant idea MRSM :T I'm off to hunt out some bubble wrap! I already had to throw out one I made from old towels as it got damp.

Larmy, my sis got us one each of those from Dunelm last year, they're lovely and warm, though I was a bit nervous at first in case I got up quickly and forgot to untangle my feet :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Sunday mornings is generally DIY on a well-known shopping channel & one of my lot actually gets up to watch  Anyhow, they had a wind up torch/ radio/ PHONE CHARGER on there yesterday, but unfortunately said they had sold out. Couldn't tell you the price, but I believe they are "Trevor Bayliss"--should be a very good make cuz he's the guy who invented it :DThey had a bog-standard set of plugs for the big four makes of phone, but said summat about being able to get connections for the less common brands....think I'll be looking out for these now :p

Wind up lanterns/torch/radio looks good, wendybird, where did you get yours?

Dh bought it off ebay - it's Freeplay and cost about 18 pounds. The radio is FM and works well. You can also get them with DAB radios. It came with a Nokia phone charger, but as we both have Samsung phones we'll have to adapt it or just purchase a cheap Nokia for emergencies!
  • I got all my wind up stuff from ebay too and they were all well priced. It's well worth taking a look as I'm sure they'll put the prices up when they realise everyone is probably going to need them.
When we had power cuts on a large scale before,it was amazing how candles that had previously cost a pound a box of 10 were being sold for 50p for a single candle.I'm going to get stocked up now.
