I got two prs of knitted gloves in MrT today--one pair are fingerless--& altho they're priced at £3, they went thru for just £2 :j Lots of lovely colours & I'm tempted to go back for some more :D
    I'm 90% certain I saw gent's flannelette-type pjs +/- tops too, but couldn't tell you the price..

Gran told me to tuck my vest in or I'd "get a cold in the kidneys"--

LMAO!!! My gran says that to me down to this day. She says I'm never going to live as long as her because I don't keep my body warm.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T
  • I also gave in last night and packed away the two blankets we have been using. I have replaced them with a silk duvet which I bought from china, via ebay 2 years ago. I did sleep much better at a more even temperature and I didn`t get hot in the early hours. It is quite a big duvet and overlaps the sides and foot by a fair bit, it came with its own non-standard cover, which would be a potch to take off and wash as it is taped in, so we are using a top sheet too

I was disappointed today with the john lewis flannel duvet covers. They are just a coarse cotton so are going back. Not flannel as I know it. I`ll have to keep hunting for brushed cotton ks duvet covers

    Evening all,

Definitely would recommend kemps for wool, have had lots from them and even with conversion rates it is cheap and they have a wonderful range of wool...not allowing myself go there atm as I need to knit what I have before I have space for any more.

Not getting on as quickly as I had hoped with Winter preparations, still have a couple of pairs of curtains to hang and more to line.

We where going to buy from them. But found out our local market was cheaper £3.99 a T-shirt and Long Johns. Also seemed to be a different mix as the three t-shirts my husband already has are poly and cotton mix. Where as there's have viscose (SP?)as well in.

  • Someone on here (I think) mentioned a wind up lantern. Cheapest I've seen on-line is £19.00 but I saw one for £14.99 in Robert Dyas yesterday. Has anyone got one? Are they any good? I'd like to get one for emergencies, but maybe also as a night light, or if the light is good enough, for reading - maybe if I bought two?

    Thanks for any advice.
