Superb online discoveries on the flannelette sheets, ladies. Anyone found one which sells flannelette (or jersey material) duvet covers please?

I don't know about online - but Bhs used to do a good single size jersey duvet set in a bag - think it was pillow cases and duvet cover - they were quite nice but only in single size and limited colours.

  • I always remember flannelette sheets from when I was young, and thick blankets. Now, I have a bone of contention with Mr Frugalswan at night. He always likes to get into a really cold bed and have the bedroom cooler than everywhere else, when I prefer it to be warm and cosy so I fall asleep easily ...

We will work on this. As we try to every year :P

Another item was ticked off my list today. I bought a pair of boots that will last me quite happily through autumn and winter (but won't be much good for snow and ice, that's what my trainers are for), as well as a nice burgundy jumper for work and some tights. The office is always so cold, and leaving the house really early in the morning to catch the bus then the train is no fun, so I want to be warm!

So far I'm quite happy as we've not had to put the heating on once, and whenever Mr Frugalswan has been cold he's actually gone and put extra layers on (which was nice). Mind you, we don't have double-glazing or anything and need to get the loft insulated again as the stuff we have currently is really old. We're talking to the letting agency about getting it put in, but I'm not holding out much hope. :(
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!

we have the same problem but solved it with a single electric blanket on my side..and there was a ban on foot sneaking onto my side when it was really cold!!
    simplicity is key

Maybe you should try a flat sheet across the whole bed to cover both of you and then 2 seperate duvets, one for each of you, on top of the sheet.
You could have the heavier tog one.
And warm your side with a hot water bottle before getting into bed and let him have his cold half. LOL

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

My exOH and I had a good arrangement... he used to go to bed first and warm my side up, then get tipped onto the cold bit when I was ready for nod :D
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
