Yep, that sounds like Hutspot to me. Carrots and onions mash. A big fav. here in this house. kids love it!
And yah, chocolate sprinkles is a big favorite on bread. You get them in all sorts of variaties as well. Dark choc, milk choc, white choc, mixed, fruit sprinkles etc..
I know, we are weird. :rotfl:
AAAHHH, you make me want some now sis! I love hutspot but kids are not keen on the carrot/onion one. but love the potato/curly kale combo with some bacon stirred through and with lots of gravy and sausages.
Chocolate sprinkles are the best, ours are finished now..
Not too cold yet, just wet in bonnie Scotland. Already making soup for lunch for the kids and us. Butternut squash yum. Husband said the other day: Oh good, you have the slow cooker out, can't wait for all the winter dishes! At least someone is looking forward to the winter, if only for the food0 -
does anyone know where i can a decent priced Door curtain pole from. I want to put a curtain behind my front andback door, but without it constantly snagging when i open and close it.0
-
why not buy a broom handle? you could support it with a couple of large hooks - bit like cup hooks but larger ;-} A couple of elastic bands screwed round the pole several times - just outside of each hook - will stop the pole from sliding in the hooks.0
-
do you mean the special pole which moves when the door opens?
Wilkinson used to sell them about £15 though ,i went for a much wider pole so i could draw the curtain clear of the door, depends on your door though

Hi, I've got an open fire that I burn logs and sometimes coal on. Trying not to put the oil heating on till Oct or even longer I'd like to use the fire as much as poss. However the grate is useless.
What's the best, safest and most efficient type? Preferably reasonably nice looking too but that's a secondary consideration. At the moment there's a kind of loose curved gate bit at the front and a simple basket at the bottom. If a log or anything falls forward, the front bit falls over - obviously not safe so I can't really pile it up and get a good heat going. I've had a look around and can only see either similar types of set ups or those night burners with a front flap that comes down. They are probably safer but are they efficient? They don't look particularly good.
What have you got? Are there any good suppliers? and what should I look for. I'd love a multifuel stove but it's a rented house so I couldn't afford it.
Thanks - and isn't this thread brilliant?!

FYI I do not work for matalan or any affilate of the company!!!!!April Grocery challenge(total/spent) £200/£75.530 -
hi elljay-- you'd have to google for fireplace centres or look in the yellow pages, so you can actually see them - its a hard thing to advise on here. I love my fire and wouldnt ever live without it, it makes life bearable for me. I think you would get one sort for coal and another sort for logs...but logs arent as hot as coal. sorry not to be more help.0
