We have had a lazy day too. Much needed.

Like your focus on the grocery bill. Much needed here too, so fingers crossed we both make it!

Yes, everyone needs a lazy day or 2 once in a while. :)
This week I'm super busy, lets of tidying, cleaning and reorganising to do.
Mr tc seems determined to scupper my shopping budget! :(
We only needed bread and milk...and pie and sausage and ice cream-we did not need any of the latter 3 things and whatever else he got that I haven't seen yet. anyway, he managed to spend £11.31.
I need to update signature. I think it leaves us about £20.52 and £2.45 in APG vouchers, to last us 10 days. I've just told him he is banned from shopping for 10 days.

  • Haha my DH is a demon in the supermarket too. He will buy really random items that we never eat and try to justify them as they are reduced. Just when you think you are doing well with the budget, a spanner is thrown well and truly into the works!!

Pleased it's not just my OH who does this. :) he's still banned from shopping for a few days!
I have set myself a tough task to be honest, as my month started on 26th August-so it's over a month really as I've set the end date for 30th September. So if I'd set it for a true month-26th -25th. We would come in under budget, no problem. It's only the 22nd and we still have over £20 left.
I'm still really proud to be honest as we usually spend between £400-£500 a month, so we've cut that in half. :)

    Today is sorting day.
Yesterday I made a start on the lounge...but there is so much stuff I want to either keep or sell. So today I'm changing tac and I'm going to attack the storage upstairs...I figure if I can part with some stuff from up there, it will free up storage for the things I want to keep that are downstairs. This is the plan anyway.

Ok, so Ive been to get some groceries today...I have gone over budget. in my defence, I got some things that were on offer whilst they were on offer. If I had waited until next week they may have been back up to full price. So I haven't splurged on things we don't need. I've bought things we don't need now but will need them within the next month or so. Long term it is moneysaving.
I also wombled a receipt as I walked back to the car and got a voucher for over £1.50. My own receipt reaped nearly £1.50 too. :)
I'm still going to come in under £250 on the groceries for the month and that's fantastic for us. :) especially as it's a five week month.

  • Great news on the food spend reduction, well done you. Am very envious as ours seems to have been worse than ever as all the DSs have been home over the past month. However, next week we will be down from six in the house to only three :( as they head back one by one to uni. If there is no reduction in our monthly total next month I will deserve to be thrown off this forum :rotfl:

    Well...after a turbulent few days I need to re-evaluate...everything. :(
Due to recent revelations my focus is more on savings than paying mortgage off.
Maybe time for another thread ...
