Just a quick one while I have a few minutes lunch..
:T:T:j:j blooming brilliant loses ladies, fab! :j:jI've looked at quite a few threads on minimins and it was really helpful when I was thinking of starting SW and trying to read up on it as much as possible. Seems a shame that the forum closed down a few months ago but I'm sure I'll continue to look at some of the old posts on there.
Rebster, I didn't realise Minimins had closed, I'd been looking at it but not looking at the last posting dates so I thought it was still going.. that's a shame.
I didn't get an email telling me and I'm a member..
Lois - will take you off, hope you have a good trip back x
Denise - I'd heard that too, I was also reading an article saying it was 50g a day of processed meat is too much,, but in the same article there's a scientist saying it's wrong and meat has been demonised.. it's hard to know what to believe when there are so many differing opinions isn't it!
Here's the article if anyone wants a read..

My father had Bowel Cancer and I can say it is a really really horrible illness. He was given a 15 % chance of beating it and thankfully did and has been in remission for about 4 years now.
Personally I have been very conscious of my red meat and processed meat intake since his diagnosis. I do still consume them just less of them. I'm not a big red meat lover anyway and sausages aren't really on the menu too much when you are following SW. I Probably have bacon once a week. Like Denise I think that they aren't saying anything that hasn't been said before.
I guess it comes down to personal choice and education. We know what the risks are and its what we choose to do with that knowledge.0 -

Well summed up lantanna. I think I was just conscious that some weeks I have more processed meat than others but overall not too bad. I'm sure working on a bit more variety in general will help. I just wish fish was a bit cheaper. I think I'll be factoring in a bit more chicken and not buying a big pack of ham so regularly which I snack on as well as basis for some lunches.
My nana used to buy really lovely cutlets of hake from the fishmongers on the market when I was a child. Really meaty and about the only meal I remember having ketchup with as a child. I'm so old I don't think fish fingers had been invented!

The lamb shanks are these little ones so much cheaper for midweek than the big ones. And I got them YS!:D0 -

Your Nanas hake brought back lovely memories of my own dear Nan and the lovely fish we used to have. We lived not far from the Birmingham Bullring Meat and fish wholesale market and late Saturday afternoon was the time to go for the reduced. So it was always fish on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday. No more because fish dosent keep that well. Sunday lunch was a full blown roast with whatever joint she got and enough fruit and veg to last the week when the stall holders used to be throwing it at you. Often thnk how she would have loved to have a freezer. The joint would do for Sunday Roast, cold meat and pickles for tea, cottage pie on Monday, stew on Tuesday and the bone and leftovers boiled up for soup. No wonder I grew up to be a podge with a lifel:rotfl:ong love of YS[/QUOTE]

rebster, your menu looks fine. All I'd say is that it's HEA that's the milk and HEB that's the cereal but that doesn't make any difference to what you've eaten. I remember HEB is things like bread. Not sure what fruit you had but it's best to have things from the list as lots of fruit is free but isn't Speed food.
Thanks for the feedbackIn terms of fruit I've been very careful in terms of picking stuff from the speed food lists so should be OK there.
Very impressed with everyone's losses - congrats all :T Nice to see that it really does pay off. Main thing I'm struggling with at the minute is not weighing myself. I got into a bad habit of weighing myself every day when I was doing low carb and obsessing over every tiny fluctuation. I'm determined to stick to weekly weigh ins for SW but it's not easy!0 -

Put your scales away somewhere where it's a real faff to get them out, like on top of the wardrobe or anywhere really inconvenient. Fortunately we threw our scales away before starting SW (old and dusty and we didn't like what they said;)) and I've never replaced them or I'm sure I'd be just like you. Some of the minimins members started a new forum, it's called Food Fighters. A lot of the SW posts have been restarted there, but it's not a patch on the original (yet).
shala From what I've read over on the new forum, it was closed without warning. People got up one day to find it all locked down. Shame!Strange, but no one is very happy with SW on line. But I suppose it's like going to a group, getting the books and not going back. Once you have the information you can do it on your own with all the help on here of course:).
Funny, about half of the new starters last week (and there were a lot) didn't show up to the next meeting. Didn't click at the time, but I bet they just took the books and ran. Most joined on a free mag offer too!
Have already made a few friends in my group, so I'm pleased with going.0
