The OCD part of my brain remembers signs at the tills and with a good amount of notice. Rarely go in nowadays, but used to go in every Saturday with my Gran
No harm in contacting customer service, but I wouldn't be disappointed if the response was negative.0 -
This seems to be akin to the situation with banknotes that have been withdrawn from circulation, that are exchanged at face value for no cost by the Bank of England - in this case, M&S Head Office acting in a similar role to the BOE.

Except M&S dont offer thatI've found some old credit vouchers. Does M&S still accept these?
We stopped issuing old-style credit vouchers in June 2006. As of April 2009, we no longer accept these in any of our stores, and unfortunately we can’t replace them with any other payment type.0 -
Thanks for all the answers, im looking at the vouchers now and they do not have bar codes, 2 of them are the above mentioned credit vouchers but one (the £10 one) is a gift voucher, looks different to the others and mum is adamant that this was not received that long ago. would somebody have some idea as to when this was dis continued so i could tell my mum, and then she may say "oh how time flies lol"
It is a brown £10 gift voucher,no bar code.
Thanks for all the great help, much appreciated

Have you read the thread and M&S links?0 -
I know a M&S store manager and I asked him if he would honour the vouchers, he said he would rather than upset a customer.
I'd suggest you try another store and if they refuse to accept them ask to speak to the store manager and see what they say.0 -

Its obviously worth a try, what isnt, but you're talking nearly ten years since these will have been issued...plus they failed to put an expiry date on them in a time where not so many people had access to the internet etc.
If it was 1999 I'd agree but by 2006 & especially by 2009 pretty much everyone had access to the Internet!0 -

M & S is a company where the Manager will be ultimately be governed by head office procedures. I don't see how one M & S manager can accept the vouchers when another can't. It will be uniform across the group.0 -

Do you not think that store managers are given some latitude when it comes to customer relations, especially when it is a very low value item? There are override buttons on the tills for a reason.0 -

Not really upsetting a loyal customer though, they've not set foot in store for at least five years0
