M and S voucher with no expiry date

Hi Guys
Hope someone can help
My parents recently went to M and S with 3 vouchers, totalling £16. They are Marks and Spencer vouchers which my mum has had for a while. Before they went shopping i checked the vouchers and there is not an expiry date any where on them, so i said they would be fine. They caused a drama in the shop because nobody had a clue what to do with them. The manager said that the tills they now had required a certain code , so they came away with red faces and the vouchers.
My question is if there is no expiry date then should M and S honour the vouchers, it is only £16 after all
Thanks Radisson

Do they have a bar code on them? If not they have had them for a very long while and M&S publicised the fact that they would stop accepting them some years ago. If they do have a bar code they should still be accepted.0

I would write to them, they may send you replacement vouchers as a good will gesture.0

I'd get on to their Head Office and have a chat, I wouldn't give up easily if they just say they stopped accepting them.0

They stopped issuing them in 2006 according to the above link) and stopped accepting in 2009 (so gave people with them three years to use up their old vouchers)
Its obviously worth a try, what isnt, but you're talking nearly ten years since these will have been issued...0 -

Nothing ventured and all that, plus they failed to put an expiry date on them in a time where not so many people had access to the internet etc.0 -

I'm assuming (though not sure obviously) there will have been signs in the stores and other things other than the Internet. Obviously difficult to know either way0 -

It might be worth sending a message on Marks & Spencer's Facebook page, explaining your parents' dilemma.
Their customer services can be second to none (on a good day!) and they may issue new vouchers.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained .....
Good luck0
