Well done that's another step closer to an easy life! Less cards make total sense.

Happy mothers day to you too. Hope you've been treated well.

  • Hi Bob

I have been spoilt today but still cooked dinner. I wanted to and no body complained or stopped me :rotfl:

As for the cards I had about 7 at one point  a few with zero balances but still 7.

I am now down to 3 and one of those is zero balance. I need to close this also but was treated to a free £50 when I phoned to close a couple of weeks ago. I haven't got round to ringing again.

I am closing the cards as I go along to take away the temptation of thinking oh well I will only spend £xxxx and then I will pay it off. This mindset has dwindled away now since my serious LBM :)

I also see you are only 9 payments away until freedom. Well done Bob

    Hope you are well.

Down to 3 is brilliant progress.

I actually made breakfast this morning as my OH makes it normally. I am not a morning person and he is usually up by 6 so he does it. I don't think it matters. My son had made me 3 cards. One had happy mummy and angry mummy on it. Not sure what his point was :)

I hope to make it 9 payments. However £211 is quite a lot each month and not all months are as financially possible. Hoping all the PADS will add up and keep me moving forwards.

    I lied :o

Sorry I have just re read what I wrote. I meant to say I am paying 3 cards and have an additional one that is zero balance. I made it sound like I would be left with 2 ( wishful thinking) :rotfl:

Either way it's still progress. You are so inspiring as you are totally focused on your goal and it really comes across.

    Thanks Bob

I try to stay focussed on the end result. I tend to get a little impatient waiting for the statements to come in but then I have to think about the fact I'm not in arrears or unable to pay my other bills so I am lucky there.

I do often wonder what it will be like when all I have to pay is my regular bills and then will be able to save money for nice things. But until then I have to keep chipping away.

BIG lessons learned here in the 12 month household regarding our use of CCs.

Anyway nearly pay day again and my total will come down again :T

Being a bit thick here but what is the importance of the statements? You can log into your account on line and see your balance every day. Is it the interest charged you are wanting to see on paper or just that the balance decreasing on paper is motivating?

Sorry Bob your not thick its that way I am writing things. All of my CC monthly statements come in on line. I don't get paper statements. I also log in to my accounts all the time.

I just mean the time of the month when my minimum payments generate and are due. I squirrel money away throughout the month and get impatient because I'm waiting to pay them straight away.

Sorry for the confusion I hope I have not confused it further :)

Not at all. That's very clear. If you are paying interest on any of your cards it would make sense to pay off the money you are saving for your payments as and when you can as the interest would then be lower each month. You could still pay the minimum but via small payments instead of 1 monthly. Just a thought. But equally it's your choice whatever feels most comfortable

  • Hello diary world

I have been neglecting my diary but not my finances. Work has been full on lately and I am shattered  Already thinking about my bed :(

Cannot moan about the extra pennies though. I wont reap the full benefits until about May but at least it will be there. :T

Payday on Tuesday and I will be able to make more payments soon after again :D

I have just heard that Aldi are launching on line shopping and delivery very soon :j I'm so excited I have already registered my account :rotfl:

Friday tomorrow and I will definitely be catching up on peoples diaries etc.

    I hope everyone is well.
