Lack of publicity over England's shops charging 5p a bag

I had heard about this happening but as I always take bags with me on my weekly shop thought it shouldn't affect me, that was until a visit to Bluewater yesterday where I saw a sign up in Next when I was paying for some clothes that they will charge 5p as of 5th October, so I assume from this that it Clothes shops etc as well?Fibro-Warrior0

In argos yesterday and lad told us to keep the big bags as they would be chargeing for bags from Oct. So it seems every shop you buy something from will do this.0 -
I see customers that say they left their bags in the car. So why do they need to pack everything in carrier bags? Just pack at the car. If its raining, serves you right. Just use one bag for small items like stock cubes, jars of herbs, packet sauce mix etc
Regarding clothing purchases, I am willing to pay 5p if I am buying something large like a coat, long dress etc. Not for undies or t-shirts.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Wonder if any stores will get annoyed with people using other store's branded bags?0

I usually pick up the nearest bag-for-life when I go off shopping.
It might be from Tesco, Wilko, one of the £1 shops, Co-op.
Nobody in any shop has appeared to be annoyed.0 -

Why? Do they get annoyed now when other stores reusable branded bags are used?0 -
So it looks as though (or people on here think) the English are less intelligent than the rest of the UK if all these assumed problems are going to occur when the rest of the UK managed to transition to paying without any major, or even minor, traumas
I think of this is the only worry people have then they have a very good life
I did not say that the people concerned (cucumbers etc) were English....0
