Even more shocked now : is Corbyn really going to obey the Daily Mail?
What do his acolytes think about that; but as they have accepted him dropping all his 'principles' within a week, I guess they will accept this to?
I feel no need to defend Dave as a person : I'm only interested in policies but the issue of Ashcroft's non dom status is a matter of substance. If it were shown he lied then he should resign (I suppose he could try the McConnell defense and apologise for any offence caused).
A headline writer's guide on How to Speak Corbyn. Private Eye.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Very principled Clapton. Perhaps you'll show the same consistency by withdrawing your support for a party whose 'acolytes' spend all their time with their snouts in the trough!:rotfl:
By 'snouts in the trough' do you mean the MPs would abused the expenses system
or is to your generic term of abuse for people who create wealth wanting to retain a small amount of it?
If the former then I do not support the MPs who clearly misused the expenses system,
if you mean the latter, then I think all members of our society benefit from new or expanding businesses0 -
@Shakey - it's so tempting to do a parody of that parody on our mutually favourite topic, but I think I'll just soak up the heat on my holiday instead. One-finger posting has its limitations. That would be another thread anyway.
By the way, I think the Daily Mail is a good comic, but don't take much else in it seriously, and that rarely.Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.0 -
Oh come on.... who's never stuck their genitals in a pigs head at a party??
He's just one of us is dave.Left is never right but I always am.0 -

I don't understand your point
Corbyn has done U turns on virtually every 'principle' he had (although he doesn't seem to have abandoned his friends in the IRA)
and chooses to offer vague answers to quite reasonable questions
so e.g. whyever would he refuse to answer whether he would join the Privy council other than to imply he was to refuse?0 -
Oh, Piglet no, don't go in there, please. I know what they said but...
Oh. No.
We're all in it together.0 -

I'm sure it's not what Private Eye intended but did anyone else think actually most of those headlines summed up the intent of what Corbyn was saying pretty well.0 -

Well that's fine. I hope you feel the same way after the next few days of headlines 'summing' up Cameron as well. There's some more shockers on the front pages today, and not just in the Daily Mail either. Showing him fox hunting, talking about his closeness to Rebeka Brooks, coke parties ( Chipping Snorton ) and being accused of ineptitude over Libya and Syria.

I think there mabye an attempt going on to oust Cameron imo.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

He's toast. It's a matter of when he goes.
The problem with getting rid of leaders like this is that most people have skeletons in their closet and with the interwebs and everyone carrying a camera all of the time everything is provable.
Do we really want to drop every PM that smoked a little pot at college and had mates that took coke (no accusations that he even took any I have seen)? Okay the pig thing is stupid but young people do stupid things. I got arrested for a petty offence as a student that would make me look like a fool now. I was 19.0 -

Well, the BBC pretty much laid into Ashcroft and the woman who wrote the book, who tried to brush the thing aside as just a short paragraph about something that one person had mentioned to her. I agree that most people have skeletons in their cupboards, especially when it comes to events that occurred during their growing up days, when they tended to experiment with a variety of things, including gross ones. I actually find what Ashcroft has done far more sordid and irresponsible than what David Cameron allegedly did as a youngster.
A lot of people are far more worried about the serious issues that are facing us today, like the masses of illegal migrants that are invading Europe at the moment (fit young men who certainly don't look like any refugee I've ever seen). I would certainly not like to see loony Red Corbyn and his loony mates in power at this time…0
