Yes, there will be growing pains, but most areas/cities are handling them very well.
but that isn't the same as saying that the indigenous people have a better standard of living due the increase in population size.
You may well look forward to the UK population exceeding 100 million and the cheapest one bed flat in London being 10 x your graduate engineer wage but I fail to see why this is to our advantage.0 -
indigenous people
People are people. I refuse to discriminate. You may well look forward to the UK population exceeding 100 million
It wouldn't bother me too much as many areas, including urban ones, could cope with more people very easily.the cheapest one bed flat in London being 10 x your graduate engineer wage
London is as London does. If your only experience of the situation on the ground for the other 90% of the population comes from this 10%, then you're going to have a rather distorted view.
Daughter just bought a 3 bed semi for 4x the salary we're discussing and she's close to a city centre and the hospital where she's training.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
We should kick out some of indigenous population. I have more respect for someone who's got off their !!!! to come here and make a better life for themselves than many of those who were lucky enough to be born here and little moreLeft is never right but I always am.0

I now understand where you are coming from
you believe in unlimited immigration whether or not it benefits the people of the UK.
I would not want to build a straw man but presumably you believe all the people of the world should enjoy the same living standard as you won't discrimination : I wonder.
I am must more selfish on behalf of the people of the UK : I wish changes to benefit the home team within reason of course.0 -

Yes, as it happens, I do want that, but I'd like to achieve it without mass migration if possible. I see some people living on < $2 per day as a bigger issue than others finding UK benefits not letting them upgrade their smart 'phones every year.I am must more selfish on behalf of the people of the UK : I wish changes to benefit the home team within reason of course.
The people of the UK are just those that happen to be here now. We've been drifting around the world for centuries, most of our language comes from elsewhere, so get over it.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

however you would vote for unlimited immigration and be prepared for your income to drop to the world average.
Of course I believe you have these deeply held beliefs.
I'm sure I would be amazed at your charitable contributions but I guess you are too modest to admit them.0 -

That's what I'm already paid for someone with my skill set. As for unfettered movement of people around the globe, I do think that's something we should be working towards, but it's going to take time.I'm sure I would be amazed at your charitable contributions but I guess you are too modest to admit them.
That's a different subject and yes.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Well it seems that we really agree:
We are both support unlimited movement of people but not right now, as it would do a lot of harm to the people of the UK.0 -

However, while I'd like us to keep making steps forwards, you seem to want us to take a huge leap back.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

I'm not sure why you call making the people of the UK poorer, is a 'step forward' but I think we agree about the essentials.
Augustine would be proud of us both.0
