MrN_2 said:Well, it's pretty widely acknowledged that people will renegotiate at the end of their offer term. The majority either continue to pay as normal or cancel entirely.Retention deals are offered to reduce the "churn" rate of those who cancel fully.0

But they can't cancel fully, because it's difficult for them to get through. Think that was the point.

Think that was the point.Unfortunately, the inevitable down turn in the economy this will ultimately bring about will surely result in a huge number of total cancellations which will completely negate any perceived "advantage" the ISP's may have for the next few weeks.0

I wouldn't mind to continue to pay for the service after my contract expired. However, they have that business model of overpricing first then discounting in a way it looks generous.
So, I would be happy to continue to pay £23.50 for my Fibre100 until they reopen CS fully. But no, they want me now to pay £43.50 as my discounts are gone...
Managed to cancel after 3 days of trying. Got offered £28.50 for my package (new customers on top of Fibre100 get Tivo with lowest TV package and weekend phone for a quid more...) so refused that.
The following day got call from retentions (they do work from home) and their "offer" for loyal customer (13 years) was £26 for 100MB (alternatively £21 for 50MB which I thought was stopped being offered last year...).
Obviously they are aware that many people are stuck as new home installations are generally halted by BT and Sky.2 -
I am nearing the end of my contract with VM in June, my current bill is £73 a month, the same package they are offering new customers for £49 a month! If i cancel and get my wife to swap over and have her as the customer would she count as a new customer if i said i was moving out?0

I was paying 60 per month for 108 mbs broadband + phone and tv.
When I said I wanted to leave they offered 47 per month "best they could do"
Rang back asked them to disconnect the service, they then offered 42per month "best they could do",
I insisted they end the service, and signed up for now broadband.
Just got a call today, 33per month and they will throw in extra tv packages.
So far that's £336 saved.
I said I'd think about it, they're going to ring back at 5pm.1 -

I had been offered £50 for 100mb broadband, tv mix and phone which would become £72 after 12 months. But my new contract showed £70 becoming £93.On contacting them they said I would be paying £50, the discount would be applied to the bill, but they cannot put on contract, and no email either. So basically I have no proof. My question is to other members that does your contract show the amount clearly with package and discount. Thanks in advance.0

My contract is up, this is their proposal...Then further down the email gets confusing. The Big Bundle they're offering at £59 is exactly the same as the one I'm on now that they want to increase to £54.50 from £34.50. But they have put in the new customer offer below it at £29.99.Bear in mind I don't use or need the landline or TV, I just have them as they were included in the cheapest offer 2 years ago.It reads to me like this:You're paying £34.50, but it will go to £54.50But you can have the same deal with a different name for basic TV for £59Or you can have it for £29.99Am I reading that right?Openreach based Fibre where I am tops out at 30Mb which I can live with, I also get good 4g coverage & can hook that up to me network. Unlimitied 4G can be had for around £20 a month. So I am prepared to walk.

Just be aware that OR ISPs may not be able to set you up quickly depending upon work needed .
