Not really true is it .
Look at their upload speeds. Way below widely available competitors.

Good point, would be interesting to know what percentage of Virgin Media customers actually care about upload speeds.

I reached my 30 day notice point in my contract with Virgin Media.
I rang and cancelled and was offered Ultimate Oomph for £99/month. No thanks!

I ordered the Ultimate Oomph package on £89/month as a new Customer in my Wifes name. Same bank account (joint) that I was using on my previous Contract with Virgin Media.
I went via Quidco (£200) which tracked within 30 mins.
I also qualified for the £125 Shopping Voucher.
I set the install date the Tuesday after my disconnection date (Saturday).

Reading through a lot of comments on here and HotUKDeals, there doesn't seem to be any reward for Loyalty at Virgin Media. I used to (5 years +) get phone calls from Virgin Media telling me I was paying too much and they would offer me better deals. Shame.

Not really. Do you use the phone much?
  • My contract is not due to expire for a couple of months but I have heard that as my wife has never had a contract with Virgin, (all contracts have always been in my name), what is to stop her applying for a "new user" deal and me cancelling the current contract? That way we get the best deal going for a 'New Customer'.

Nothing stopping you doing that - we do that every year between us.

Thanks for responding. Do you normally have a gap of A few days without broadband or can it be seamless?

Just got off the 'phone with Virgin Media. My bill had gone up after my contract ended so I called to see what they would offer. I mentioned a BT deal (which wasn't as good as the Virgin package I was on - slower broadband plus I don't have an aerial so would have been more of an upheaval to switch) and said I would like my bill reduced to something proportionate. The first guy I spoke to finally offered me £3 off per month. I expressed my disappointment and he put me through to retentions who offered me £16 off per month for the same package, which I felt was fair and accepted.
