Valli - please share the best way to do strawberry runners, I have always just left mine and they root too shallow and often die

I get a small plant pot for each plant - about 3". (In the past I have saved yoghurt pots and put a hole in them with a hot skewer but got some proper pots in the sale and some which were being thrown out at work). Into each I put a mix of garden soil and home-made compost. I select vigorous-looking plantlets which are close to the parent plant, cut off any 'extension' runners and push the plantlet into the soil. The pot it then positioned near the parent so that the plantlet stays put. When, on lifting the plant pot up I can see roots coming through the holes in the bottom, I cut off the runner and hey presto! I have a little plant to go in the garden. I then plant in neat rows (8 to a row) and have a tidy strawberry bed again. Because I know I need them in multiples of 8 it's easy to work out how many I need to 'catch', though I usually do a couple of spares. If I think on I will take a picture.

I don't know why I bother; the Valligirl eats most of them:rotfl:

Have ironed today's washing. There is nothing left to iron and very little left to wash! next load is towels - no ironing!:T

I have sorted and distributed socks. There are three of us here and one of us rarely wears 'em in summer...

I have also made some progress on the summer list...

    SUMMER TOOTS LIST

    [STRIKE]paper living room [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]make blackcurrant jam[/STRIKE] - extra progress! last half-pound picked and jammed!
    make bramble jelly PSF none
[STRIKE]sort through car boot stuff [/STRIKE]
update bank account PSF - two statements (have forgotten bloomin' word - means checked and verified in a financial way) logged. That's not the word. Also checked and shredded a wodge of till receipts.
pay in PTA money PSF Have put one lot of money with another lot. There are 3 lots. And a cheque.
    update PTA accounts PSF none
    [STRIKE]dye hair [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]book haircut [/STRIKE]
varnish wood in dining room PSF - one layer on, second can needed. Need to borrow OAP and go Wednesday :money:
thank you cards for summer gift PSF another pack bought
sort gift box and record contents PSF listed on i pad - now need to add to spreadsheet
buy birthday cards for Aug/Sept - Mission ALMOST complete - need one for niece's hubby-to-be
buy wedding outfit - Mission complete
    UPDATE DIARY - Mission complete

    New stuff to do
Work jobs (will not list as are not personal to me)
Send Aunty Mary (not my real Auntie but Mater's lifelong friend) picture of completed sewing project as she gifted me the machine.
    Make a new peg bag
Assist DD in papering wall in her room. PSF Have stripped paper off and have filled 3 holes; we removed hooks. Will buy paper when OAP comes to 'beenq', along with varnish.
Ring more window suppliers. Get quotes. Don't faint.
Ring re mortgage to check if am on best deal.
Win £1m on premium bonds. Could faint for this I suppose :rotfl:.
SORT SHOES FOR WEDDING. POLISH ALL POSSIBLE PAIRS AND CHECK HEELS. (3 possibles, all black!) See if DS needs shoes polishing.

Make list for stuff needed for wedding and overnighter in hotel. Make sure DD takes earplugs. Check if DS will be playing golf with 'the men'. Actually point out to Vallikids that they are their own responsibility so they need to sort themselves out.

  • Hi all x

Flying in here has been at a minimum today, washing machine has been on a couple of times and I've done a quick s/s of the LR and the scullery. Had to go into work early as a lovely child had an upset stomach and had pooed (of the runny sort) all over the place so we had to close to wash and sterilize everything. Threw a bag of smaller toys in the WM when I got home hopefully they will be dry by my shift there tomorrow night.
Working 11-4.30 one place and 5-9 at the other so I doubt that I will be in tomorrow.
Sending love and hugs to everyone (including piggers and especially to cy)

  • Evening all,

Blimey it's just taken me ages to read the thread! Can't remember much but :
Sorry about the job mumto5,I'm sure another will come along. Hope your OH had a good first day. Well done to your OH frizzle , and CY hope the hospital went as well as it could.
Well done to everyone who has been flying like mad today,I have only managed the daily stuff as I have been at the paid stuff all day and then driven over to mum and dads as they are looking after kids tomorrow. Have booked a few days away for the last days of the school hols (hooray), the only problem with that is that it leaves me with an urgent-I-haven't -bought -any -school -uniform type problem. Argh!

    Thanks Valli

Mumto5 somebody will snap you up real quick, glad things seem to be going well for DH

Frizzle well done to your DH

DH just in from work now. I've spend the last 3 hours looking over exam data for school I'm a governor at. Can't absorb anymore now.

Back to paid stuff in the morning and then uniform shopping with DS3.

Spoke to Mum on the phone, appointment for op is end of September. Convo with sister by text, she is splitting from her partner.

Need to get washing out of the machine now and then head up to bed.

Didn't get it. Candidate after me had more face to face experience. Very good feedback, I was told my application and interview were excellent and they had more positions coming up and would contact me direct. Bit gutted, Ireally wanted it but the phone call with the news was a good one. I feel positive!
Sorry you didn't get the job but sounds like you had some super feedback. You might hear from them again yet

So I'm pleased it's that the morrow as I have to traipse to the horse-pital for my next physio session at lunchtime. Just hope the rain holds off for me as it's two buses in each direction.

Evening all! Well I conquered the garage!!! Not much thrown away but a lot of it isn't mine to throw sadly!! I have 2 rather battered bikes in the boot of my car to drop off at a charity/recycling type place tomorrow (I went today but they were shut D'OH)

Only managed to s&s the bathroom as the gardener arrived and decided he could cut down the dead tree after all and then i went to circuits and had my nails done (think 'frozen' blue/turquoise shimmery- love them)

So now I'm off to bed!

    ZZZZZ

Oh by the way, anyone know of any fibromyalgia help sites? DD has been diagnosed and is struggling :(
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

I'm sitting here waiting for the tumble drier to finish and my phone to charge so I figured I'd update my list :p

I managed to do town, and only came home with a few extras. :o I need to do more accounts and budget juggling tomorrow to cover that. The important thing is DD's bus pass is renewed and is valid from the 1st, and I got vacuum bags and ink which are both needed. :D

DD didn't do anything off the actual list while I was out but she did do the jobs I'd left for her. She tided up the livingroom, did 3 out of 5 loads of washing, washed up, put away the dishes and then scrubbed the kitchen sink and drainer as well as see to the dog :D Not going to complain as I went for a bath when I got in so would have messed it up anyway. She's out most of Tuesday with her friends, which reminds me, she better put her phone on charge as soon as she gets up, but needs spending money so has been doing lots of chores in return for double pocket money. Good job she only gets £2.50 a week (She gets the equivalent of more as there's stuff I pay for directly) or I'd be even more skint!

    Right where's the list:

    Marvellous Monday: Bathroom First!
    Level 1

Clear first, bin any rubbish, rehome any migrated items.
Wipe all surfaces, windowsills, shelves etc
    Clean the sink & loo

    Deweb ceilings and corners
    Wipe down some tiles
    Clean the bath
    Level 3
Wipe down any edges - bath panels, pedestals etc
Wipe door handles, light switches with some antibac
    Clean the floor
    Extras:

    • Put out fresh ones
    • Spritz a bit of air freshener, if you like!
    • Enjoy a well earned cuppa :coffee:

Okay, drier is beeping that its done, my phone is at 74% so hopefully by the time I've dealt with stuff that'll be at 100% and I can go to bed. Up at 6am so I can to Mr A for groceries & cash for DD before she goes out at 9am!
