I am rubbish at haggling, but I managed to get my full sky package inc multi room down from £92 a month to £41.60 a month, 12 months, no new contract.
Included in this is multi room which they have reduced to £6 a month, which I can remove/re add at any point if I want to reduce the monthly bill further to £35.60. They also gave me the next months sky bill completely free.

I'm happy with this price, there is no way I will be paying £90 odd a month ever again!
    £100 - £10,000

    No idea...this is what T/talk offered !

I already have a 50% off deal for my TV package; including Skysports. This expires later this year and I will make sure Sky renew is with another 50% off deal; otherwise I will cancel it.

I am on a 12 month contract for my phone, b/band and line rental, which is separate from my TV deal, where I am not in contract.

For info, I was with Plusnet for b/band and phone. After my deal with Sky, I have now left them.
The deals are separate, but they sometimes say they will make you a very special offer if you re-order tv , too.

Last week , on cancelling tv, I was offered tv and the ADSL calls and line for £2 more than just the ADSL calls package and line price; but full price, which I said I had no intention of paying.

Put in my cancellation this morning via live chat. No real offers -best was existing package 18% overall discount for 10 months:( ( actually 20% off TV packs,no discount on HD pack) .
Interestingly, for the first time in 4 years NO attempt to offer me anything on broadband or phone rental.
    Now for the wait..............

60% off for 12 months already showing via the Sky box, altho' nothing on MySky; I'll give it until the day of switch off to see if I get offered a bill credit as well:)

......can't include b/band and phone because I've paid 12 months LR upfront in July and have a very good 24 month deal on b/band from Plusnet -free for 18 months then 6 months at £9.99:)
Just thought it was interesting that they didn't even float a possible BB/Phone deal -they have done on the previous 3 negotiations!:)

    Interesting.

As I advised, I was with Plusnet until I moved my b/band and phone to sky. I had been with Plusnet for almost 2 years. They were very good and offered me some good deals. For my last deal, I was lead to believe by them that I had paid my line rental upfront for 12 months. By chance, I found that this was incorrect and cancelled my alleged contract penalty free after the recent P/net price rises. I offered P/net the chance for renewal if they could match sky. They refused to do this so byeeeee lol !!!!
  • Tried my luck again on Live Chat, bearing in mind they've probably got quarterly targets to hit.

    Got offered:
    60% off TV
    50% off Multiroom
    £100 bill credit
    No contract

Hope that helps as a benchmark

Following my email offering 60% off until 30th September, I now have a letter extending the offer to 3rd October.

Does the board think that the call centre staff look to see if your house can get Virgin before they offer a deal.... ie, if they know you cant get Virgin, do they keep their prices up?

I ask as we will be going to Sky soon as we are moving house to a non Virgin area....

Also, BT fibre checker says approx 5 months until the area is on fibre - so if I do a deal when we move in, will I be able to upgrade to fibre as soon as its ready or will I have to wait for the 12 month minimum term to expire?

I imagine they do know, as my daughter-in-law used to work for BT and said call centre staff have a list of the offers from other companies, so know if you are bluffing.

I don't live in a Virgin enabled area, and have never found the need to quote Virgin prices to obtain a 50 or 60% discount.

Virgin beating deals can only be offered in cable areas. The advisors have no control over these deals - they are only available in cable areas! If you move from a cable area however then if you don't tell them then you can get the cable busting deal then keep it if you book a home move.

Don't expect a similar deal next year though.

To an extent the deal you get depends on the deal you had last year.
