Yes, I went back to Sky in April/May 2016 on a £30 MSE offer - this one:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/70624704#Comment_70624704
and when that was coming to an end in April 2017 I called up the 31 days notice to cancel and got offered another 12 months for £35.60.

Tried the same this year when the £35.60 deal was coming to end but no offer to stay so actually went through with cancellation. But that was for everything: HD Sports and Entertainment, Boxsets, Movies etc. although I know now that all the packs have changed but if I can get Ent & Sports in HD for around £30ish I'll most likely take it.

Ent + Sports HD + kids etc can be had for £30 ish. You just have to be persistent on chat. I was offered it a few weeks ago, but declined as dont watch much telly over the summer esp with the world cup on as well.

Hopefulyly similar deals will be on in August/Sept.
  • I haggled with sky today using their online chat system - which I much preferred to the phone as I was able to be more assertive than I would normally have been!

I saved £40 a month - and £480 a year! My package is TV, broadband and phone with sky sports. I also got a few freebies thrown in. I'm really pleased with the saving it'll make a big difference to my budget.

I looked at what BT were offering me and told Sky that I was thinking of leaving them for BT as I couldn't afford their subscription. I also added as a sports fan that BT had a number of sports that Sky didn't have that I wanted to see.

It did take the best part of 2 hours in total as advisers are talking to several people at once but it was time well spent.
  • I had no joy with sky today but after been passed around I decided to decline the final offer they made me earlier in the day.

I told them I used to only pay £25 a month and £31 in the last 12 months was excessive for me. They tried to say they were adding so much extra but £37 was the lowest I was going to have to pay. I told them if they couldn't get to around the £25 mark for sky sports with or without HD then I wasn't really interested.

I've just moved home so they've recently installed a new sky box so I will need to return that to them and I will get my money back for that. The man on the end of the phone call did say I may or may not get a call before they fully pull the plug. I've usually always got it sorted before now but I wonder if this time they will calling my bluff and going ahead with the cancellation.

Did you pay for an upgrade to Sky Q? Would that not have tied you in to a new contract?
  • They said it did tie me into an upgrade but I had a 31 day cooling off period. As I knew my contract was coming to an end soon I delayed my installation of the sky q box so I would still be in the cooling off period if sky didn’t offer me any better deals.

As I speak they”ve offered me via myoffers online £20 for sky sports for 12 months. I will have to look into that because I’m not sure of the other changes if they are charging me for entertainment on top etc.

I’ve cancelled my Sky contract (offered Entertainment, kids and cinema for £25 a month) but my husband has set up a new contract with a better offer, the sky advisor didn’t seem interested that there was a contract ending at the properly already and it all seems to be going through fine with an install date set.. Does anyone know if we’re likely to have issues when the engineer turns up? (We currently have Sky+ but it will be Sky Q)

I wouldn't have thought so, once the engineer is there he is just carrying out the job on the job sheet.

It is worth considering whether you will be able to use the Sky+ HD box in another room for Freesat and then get them to install the cables into the other room (you are already cabled into the existing room ;)). Also mention you will be using your old box for Freesat as it will not work unless they fit a certain type of LNB (no idea what one is, I read it on another forum - some bit of kit attached to the satellite dish to allow more than one box, but if they aren't aware they put one in for Sky Q and your HD box will then not be able to use the feed!).

    It's called a hybrid LNB.
