Wow I'm tired just reading that, you have done so much!

I am so pleased you have settled in well. You have all the time in the world to finish it off, don't wear yourself out too much!

I remember with one ex, I replaced his mattress as I just couldn't sleep on his anymore, when we moved into a place together there was already a bed base so we brought the mattress with us. When we split some time later, he left and took the mattress with him, so I slept on a blow up bed ontop of a divan until I got the money together to replace it - and I didn't care, I was that happy, it was bliss!

    Enjoy your new home :)

  • Hi MT

Thanks for the message. I'm nearly finished decorating but just a bit down at the moment. I need to get back on here and get some friends around me again.

Unfortunately my debt has increased a bit due to the move too which has made me fed up.

Think everything has just hit me like a sledgehammer.

Thanks for reminding me that you are all here.

It must all feel a bit overwhelming. I remember when I was newly single and moving into my house. I started off feeling so liberated and then I saw all the things that needed doing and how I had to really start to rely on myself and it became quite scary.

The debt was bound to rise, but you've likely spent money on things that give you a nicer home so they're good spends for now. The alternative was feeling trapped and isolated in your last house with a difficult atmosphere. Now you're Queen of your own Destiny! It's honestly a good place to be.

Definitely come on here and let us know how you're doing. It's surprising how a little vent and some positive feedback can help. We've all been there so we can all relate to what you're going through.

You're far stronger and superior than that sledgehammer. Let's whip it into shape.

You've done so much in a short space of time - but hopefully now you can enjoy your new house and begin to think where you want to go next as Queen of Own Destiny :)

Tink, I can't believe I've missed your updates!

So pleased that the flat is feeling like a home and that you, DD and Mr D are settled in.

I completely agree with MT here, it's all for the best cause - being happy in your home is first and foremost at the moment. The debt will go down, and we will all be here cheering you on but in the meantime you'll have a fab home that you love spending time in :)

You have done amazingly well Tinks. Moving house & ending a relationship are two of the biggest things life can throw at you stress wise, so its normal for it to hit you when the chaos calms.

I completely agree with MT's beautiful post, queen of your own destiny <3

The sun is on it's way, days are getting longer, I find it always helps. Can you have a little flat warming with a couple of close friends, have a painting party if you still need things doing, or just a nice chilled night with a buffet and a good film?

  • Thanks for all the lovely messages.

I think one of the things that has got me down is how on my own I actually am. Not one person apart from family have been to see me. Not one friend. Just goes to show.

I do have one close friend who I have stayed in touch with but she has a few problems of her own too so I don't mind that she hasn't been round.

I've done a lot better today and I think it is down to you guys reminding me that I can do this.

I have unpacked the rest of the bags that were here and also picked some up that were stored with family.

I've also cleaned through and done the washing.

It feels like a small breakthrough and I can't thank you all enough.

    Hello Tink,

Do you think that some friends and family may be holding back to give you a chance to settle into your new place? Sometimes it could just need you to let people know your door is open and that they're invited? I held back a bit when my close friend bought his flat and then found out that lots of other people had been visiting and taking things round. I felt like a terrible friend as I thought I was giving him some needed space.

Having a clean through home is hopefully helping your mood. It will get better.

    MTxx
