Thursday 20th August - What small DFW things will you do today?

Soooo the planned cinema outing has been pushed to Saturday and we're having a home cinema session, probably sitting in bed watching OITNB and binging as many episodes as we can. sounds like fun
I still have my cinema sweeties not sure they will survive until Saturday...
BF was out all last night at work social. Didn't get home until 2am and then was up at 7.30 for work. All his own fault of course! I went out for dinner with friends but I need to find out how much it cost because my friend put it on her card and just asked me to send it over when I can. I'll do it today so it's out of my budget.
:starmod: [strike]Reconcile YNAB[/strike] sorted through all my transactions, managed to pay £12.90 off to CC
:starmod: [strike]Costa Coffee for lunch. Got points for a free drink![/strike]
:starmod: Soup with bread rolls for dinner
:starmod: Take washing out of machine
:starmod: Clean living room. Make BF clean kitchen
:starmod: eBay camera
:starmod: Play Minecraft and watch OITNB!
Credit Card wise, just having paid off another small amount (income from eBay) I now have paid off £228.30 this month alone! Really pleased with that. I'm now 59.1% paid off of my total debt so I can definitely smash 60% by the end of this month (payday next Friday).
BF wants a new telly and has decided on one. He has been looking for a while. Asked me if it was OK (we're not married and he has his own money so I don't care really) but I said yes as long as he uses the 0% finance plan but gives me the money every month. I know what he's like, he'll always manage to pay it in the end but he'll end up just throwing 100% of the balance at it in the last month and then struggling all that month. So I've given him 8 months of no-interest repayments to ME instead. I'll hold it in one of my savings accounts and keep track of it on YNAB then transfer over the balance when he is ready to pay it all off.
More stuff
:staradmin Just won £20 in Love2Shop vouchers from work for working on a tough project!
:staradmin Got a reply to my Experian claim, they needed more details. Hopefully a refund is on the way!
:staradmin Got a £5 amazon voucher for reviewing a financial product. Now have £5.21 in my Amazon account. Will hold onto it until I need to buy something (maybe use it against a Christmas pressie)
:staradmin Reduced my self-employed tax bill! I got a letter from HMRC adjusting my tax code to include my private healthcare, which costs the company £93 a year. When I checked my tax return I realised I'd entered £138. So it's saved me about £9

Hurrah my cc statement has been issued so I can officially declare my August GC spends as £203.15/£200. Slight over spend because my friend from Holland came over for dinner on Sunday which I wasn't expecting so I bought some bits to make a nice vege meal.
Very happy with this as it is the first time in ages I have limited our GC spends (July was around £280), it was a 5 week month and more than anything I managed to keep track of my spending for the whole month
As Sept is a shorter month our budget will be £175 - seems luxurious!

Orange is the New Black. It's a nextflix original series. Just had it's third season but because it's on Netflix they release the entire series in one go. So we've got lots of episodes to enjoy!0 -

Morning all,
A few bits of low-level money saving activity today:
*Usual energy-saving measures. Think we should be getting a bill soon & I'm hoping to find that we have a decent wodge of credit towards the winter months.
*Stewed the greengages I picked yesterday. Will eat for desserts to eek out the fruit basket. Our grapes look like they'll be ready soon, so they'll make a nice change too.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products (loo cleaner & diluted 'Stardrops' in a spray bottle) & washable microfibre cloths.
*Hung big bath towels & bath mat out on line to dry instead of switching on towel radiator.
*Prepped veg for tonight's meal which is spicy chickpea stew with bulghur. It will take care of a couple of onions & a pepper which need using, also some of our homegrown courgettes.
*All free leisure today - knitting, reading & updated my blog.
This afternoon's job is to turn a kilo of our homegrown tomatoes into a smoky tomato chutney. So, after lunch, I shall be finding some nice jars in my recycled jar cupboard, skinning tomatoes, chopping, finding spices & getting the cauldron bubbling. I'll need to be in the kitchen to keep an eye on it, so I think I'll do next weeks meal plan & make a start on the shopping list. Despite top-slicing grocery budget from £250 to £200 this month (the £50 went into the Car Fund), we still have £65 left for August's final shop this weekend. I'm pleased with that.........& mr f has now really got to grips with the fact that if you spend more than 1/4 of the budget in the first week, the amount left for the remaining 3 shops decreases, but if you come in UNDER budget for all three of them, you then have a little extra for totally guilt-free treats, a BBQ or topping up the wine rack to round the month off. We both tended to 'front-load' our first grocery shop of the month, then we'd not have enough for the 4th (& sometimes 5th) shop & would end up going over budget. We're both finding it's much more effective to divide the month's budget up & have a weekly target which I write on the shopping list to focus me if I see tasty-looking 'extras' or if mr f gets the red mist at the butcher's.
DNMS - I'm looking forward to watching 'Vikings' - Plenty of big long-haired hairy lovelies waving swords around, I hope..........a girl can dream :-)2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
