Tilly - has DD been invited to a christening in her own right, rather than you all as a family? Never heard of that before

Goodmorning everybody :hello:
sorry not been around much in the last few days, I have been so busy sorting out DD's new uniform for her new school this week as I am starting my new job on Monday and will be away for 2 weeks on training and have booked to go to Scarbrough camping on bank holiday weekend. Which all means that I will just have 2 weekends together with my DD before she goes off to boarding schoolI think I am still in denial about it and it is really going to hit me when she goes. We are having a leaving party for her tomorrow night and some of her friends have clubbed together to pay for a stretched limo for her
so she will be arriving in style - not sure how Im getting there yet as I dont get my car till monday. I think I have most of the uniform sorted so will be taking it away with me next week to get the name tags sewn on in the evenings while I am staying in a hotel.
So this weekend I am going to have a good clean through the house as I havent really done much in the way of cleaning since before I went on holiday and we have been back a week. I think my poor washer has been on at least twice a day since we got back but I am just about up to date with that now - just a mini mountain of ironing to get finished
((((HUGS)))) Jocketuk - sorry to hear of your loss, try to take it easy - dont over do it.
I hope something comes up soon for you catowen
hope you get sorted with the consultant next week alibob
well done to frogga's OH
(((HUGS))) to those who need them today
the postie has just been with the school wear that I had ordered from the second hand school shop - the jumpers and shirts seem fine but the skirts are not so good. Oh well at least I will make some savingsfound out that I have to get the Blazer new yesterday though - £100
right I will stop rambling on and do a quick clean of the kitchen before I have a shower.

Morning all
JackieO - Great to see you back and posting - glad all went well, fingers crossed that the next bits are as quick and painless as possible.
FBThree - I think I'd be shutting pkitty in another room. My youngest cat got in the habit of sitting on my pillow and tapping my face just to wake me up and purr at me - although it was very sweet - it wasn't appreciated at 3am - both cats are now shut in the kitchen at night with their food and the cat flap.
Crazychick - Hope you manage to get away on holiday - does ex play mind games like that with the kids too?
Catowen - Hope you find another LO soon - I always used to find that the phone calls started coming in last week of August when people suddenly realised that summer was over and they needed to start thinking about getting back to work....fingers crossed for you. If it's still looking a bit dicey then phone your mortgage company as soon as you can - when I had a mortgage and ex got fired I phoned and told them I could only manage to pay £x until he was back in work - they agreed and said I could make the payments up later - as long as they know they're normally ok with it.
Had a lovely day out yesterday - not legoland as planned as the new ride we wanted to go on didn't open until today!!!(typical) so we'll go there next week. Instead we went to Hever castle - DD's had a lovely time, got soaked in the watermaze, played pooh sticks in the river, we had a lovely picnic and it only cost me £4.50 for ice creams (entry was paid for by Mr T vouchers!!!)
Bargin day out!
DH had gone to work this morning so need to get my backside into gear and get some housework done then off to town this afternoon to start the great school shoe hunt and get DD1's hair cut - she wants someting a bit more grown up. Might try and get blackberry picking if it stays dry.
Fancy a nice bit of beef for dinner tomorrow - not had a roast for ages.
Hope you all have a great weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Bore Da!
Late this morning as had an allergic reaction to salad last night. Well, actually only a bit of green pepper lurking with the lettuce, but that's all it takes. Serves me right for having a (planned and budgeted for) take-away, should have stayed home and had a HM allergic reaction!
Wet and windy today here, so shall clean the kitchen after taking a few things back to the real M&S - DD changed her mind about her sale bargains!!!
I found some great jeans for £6 in the M&S seconds shop which fit even though I have to lose my holiday belly, so just need a pair of good black smart trousers for the winter. Don't think I will find those on a sale rail or in the seconds shop!
Tired Mum - HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Crazychik : good luck and Bon Voyage.
odds n sods I bought a nice glass bowl in Ikea for very little, Tesco sometimes have them (that's where I got the one I dropped), or maybe you might find one in a charity shop. (Not much help for today though).
Take care all. (((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning everyone!
Happy Birthday to TiredMum. Have a lovely day.
<crazychick>What an idiot he is! I don't understand how parents (and step-parents) can be so short sighted, don't they realise that the kids will grow up into adults and however you treat them will come back to reward you?? His children will grow up and will not want to be bothered with him.
<<jocketuk>> I can't pretend to know what you are going through; Just because s/he wasn't born yet doesn't make it any easier to come to terms with, and I imagine it must be like losing a child. Honesty is definitely the best policy when it comes to telling children about these things...and you need to be able to continue to talk about your loss whenever you need to. I do know that one of the difficult things to deal with in this situation is that many people will avoid talking about it with you, or worse still will avoid talking to you at all because they are embarrassed and don't know what to say.
<JackieO> You should keep a diary, in the style of your posts on here, and get it published. Apart from being a good read in its own right, I think it might really help other cancer sufferers.
Rzl Have a great time at the proms.
I've brought a bag of extra hugs with me, so please help yourself.
Have a long "to do" list for the next few days. Haven't done any proper cleaning (just surface swish/swipes) for weeks and I need to go through the whole house over the next few days.
Had meat deliveries yesterday from two companies. Butts Farm, which I saw on Rick Stein's "Food Heroes Another Helping", they were the ones where the piggies were gambolling around like lambs. They don't do mutton though, so I also placed an order with Moorlands Farm. Both boxes arrived yesterday, and I spent ages sorting it out. Butts Farm's website makes it difficult to order less than a kilo of anything, so I had to split the packs and package them into useable sizes before vacuum sealing and freezing. Worst of all was the bacon, we probably use 125-200g at a time, and I had ordered one kilo of smoked and one kilo of unsmoked, so that took time.
Cooked a ham and sliced it, then froze it in 2-sandwich portions. And cut our own ghammnon steaks from a big joint and froze those in portion sized.
I also made over 2 kilos of butter yesterday, which has been potted and popped in the freezer. This time I only made salted butter, so it should last us a couple of months. Oh, I did make one small amount of Tomato Butter, as Lindsay Bareham (LB)was raving about it in her Tomato book.
I wouldn't have done any of the above before I joined OS.
The tomato glut continues. We've almost got enough passata to last us for the next year. We don't need any more ketchup, we made plenty last year. We're thinking of trying some of LB's tomato dessert recipes.
My freezer is now full, and I'm quite excited about cooking some of the more unusual stuff.
I've got a bout of cystitis, fortunately I had a pack of Cystopurin sachets in the medicine drawer, and it's already less painful.
And before I do anything else, I'm off to the gym. I haven't been in weeks because of my back, and the doc said that as soon as I could stand it, I should go back. Today's the day. I'm not feeling like it, but I expect it'll be fine when I get there.
Have a great day everyone

FBThree - I think I'd be shutting pkitty in another room.
Unfortunately not really feasible. Only room with door apart from bathroom is one where the 2 adult girls chose to sleep and don't want to shut 20 yr old cat in as she needs the toilet access and not having litter tray on nice new carpet in there! Bedroom takes up top attic room of house, with no doors. I'll just have to grin and bear it until he learns to grow out of it, the other ones did! Just hope it's soon!0 -
