Morning everyone, was up with DS last night and then didnt sleep well, I am soooo tired this morning. Cant even think what I need to do today - except for paid stuff and a parcel to take to the post office. Might go and sort the parcel now so that I can take it to work with me.
  • Morning everyone - Narco you beat me to it - Lynne - fancy popping into "ee by gum" land in Lancs on your way to Herts!! That is just what I have been aiming to do for the past nearly two years - but life has got in the way! I am now determined as DH intends to invite some friends to stay - so I have to do it!!
My favourite song by the Houghton Weavers is " ee by gum bur I'm cowd!" (cold)

Just getting all paperwork together for this weekend's trip then need to pack, make a phone call or send an email and get off to the museum for vol job.

Having a good time organising a mega fundraiser for Stand Up to Cancer day in October - should be lots of fun and hopefully raise lots of money too.

I gave a feelng that today s going to be a good day! :j
Ds2s bedroom is sooo close to being finished. Bed has been built so just need to gloss the door and put the curtain rail up and then he can move in!
My lvely mum has offered to come round and gloss the door as apparently I'm not supposed to gloss! Grrr! Very annoying. So I will prep everything ready for her! Everything seems to take so long!!

I did some of the list yesterday so hopefully my official list will look quite short!

Morning all. I've not had time to read the thread so hope you're all ok. Hugs etc if not.

This morning I've done the dailies, including a dog walk and all applicable bedroom jobs from today's list.

    Have a great day everyone.

Frizzle.. that is very old recommendations.. very few paints are solvent based now and lead stopped being added in the 70's.. so you are perfectly fine doing glossing too.. but if it gets you out of it.. go for it.

Dizzy Imp, you're a complete star. The Firework Championships started last night, so I shut Kelpie, Devil Cat and myself in the sitting room, closed the shutters, the double-glazed french windows and the curtains and put the TV on. Then I manoevered Kelps into his thunder shirt and from being slightly hysterical even before the fireworks kicked off he calmed right down and went to sleep which amazed me - I'd only fitted it on him a couple of times to get him used to it and hadn't realised I can use it to calm him down. When the fireworks started he lifted his head, looked around for about 10 seconds and then went straight back to sleep. I kept a hand on him for the whole time (about 50 minutes in total, start to finish) and brushed his head with a soft bristled brush when he was thinking about something, and he was absolutely fine. Devil Cat was the best he's ever been but I think that was larely because I'd managed to baffle most of the external noise as much as possible. In any event, I'll repeat the procedure tonight and then we're through the biggest problem I thought I'd have with him. I'm so, so grateful to you for the thundershirt - I had no idea how effective it would be in calming him down when he was already wound up, and then to see him so sleepy during the fireworks themselves was absolutely amazing.

I love the idea of you asked, Doobop, for suggestions for recommendations for irons - if there is one group of people for whom ironing is the work of the devil and avoided as much as possible - that would be us! For me, anything cheap and cheerful because the soleplate gets gunged up regularly here with all and sundry using it. To cut down on it as much as possible, I hang clothes that will eventually need ironing very, very carefully so that no creases dry into them if you see what I mean. And if I ever tumble anything that needs ironing when it comes out of the drier I hang them on coathangers while they're still warm. Strangely, I don't mind the ironing bit of dress-making and sewing generally; it's the everyday ironing that I can't be arrised with.

Flying today will be very low key. I'm shattered; I think I did way too much over the weekend and it's all caught up with me.
    Better is good enough.
