in Credit cards
Hello, I have had my argos card for nearly a year now and its at £300 left to pay which I was going to do this month. My brother was checking his credit report the other day and it displaying my argos card but on his credit report. He has now disputed this so we will see what happens. So I thought I would ring argos and double check that it is a mistake. They are telling me his name and date of birth is on my account yet I used my name and my date of birth. Our we both have the same initial Mr L P***** so I haven't noticed this till they told me on the phone. I'm just wondering how this may of happened he hasn't lived at our address for a long time. Argos have now blocked the account while they investigate and see my brothers dispute but I'm now worried what's going to happen next? I really don't see how this has happened.
Thanks
Thanks

Human error is the most likely explanation. As long as your repayments have been going to your debt (and your brother's have gone to his) then really the only thing to be sorted out is the data held by the credit reference agencies, which Argos should do for you both.0 -
Thanks for the swift reply, I'm just wondering it the details got handled wrong when doing the credit checks. As nothing is showing on my report from argos but it does on my brothers. Its all green where I have been paying it. So the details on the account are wrong. I just hope they will be able to change it0

how can they have all your brothers, they cant just get them and would of typed in what was given at application. Are you sure you didn't apply using his details and now you have been found out?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

When I applied for my account all my details was correct. I wouldn't use my brothers details, i'm just thinking maybe the manual handling team entered the wrong details when doing a credit check. I would never use my brothers details and how would it work as he hasn't lived here for 10 years?0

Well I really don't understand what's happened. Now the account is blocked so i'm not sure how to make payments. Will they still let me pay or make my brother pay now?0

Did they not ask you the DOB as a security question?Argos have now blocked the account while they investigate and see my brothers dispute but I'm now worried what's going to happen next? I really don't see how this has happened.
They will block it, they will need to investigate.
Why are you worried?
If you have used the correct details to apply then they will correct their error with your account and Credit Reports for both you and your brother. With it only being opened a year hopefully they will be able to find the original application and get to the bottom of it quickly for you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Ask them - please do not try and be clever to avoid paying.
If they wont/can't take a normal payment from you - see your statement - there will be details there of how to send a faster payment.
This will/is still your debt regardless of who's credit report it is on.0 -
I'm worried because I should of noticed this before . I'm also concerned to where my brother came into it. I'm just going to do a faster payment when i'm paid and jus be done with it0

My guess would be human error... for example:
Your brother was already in their customer database at that address...
A data entry operator typed in Mr L P***** at your address, found your brother's details (forgot to check DoB), and thought they had found a match.0
