One of my daughters favorite things from her survival box was a microwaveable soft toy in the form of a giraffe. Acts as a hot water bottle. She would cuddle it when she felt homesick or stressed. Still does! It was added as a silly after thought and was the first thing she saw when she opened the box. Guess not a boy thing though!0

Just a little tip don't put in the blue tack, it marks the walls and you could possibly loose your damage waiver deposit all rooms have pin boards so a box of fun tacks is a better idea.
Survival for parents keep a copy of their SLC funding, passport and drivers licence all of which get lost on a regular basis, I replaced 3 driving licences in the time my son was at Uni there....
Daughter now about to embark, have you picked up your HC1 form for free medical, e.g. condoms are free don't buy them!!!!
Thank you for the HC1 information, have just ordered the form for DD. I was told she can put down her home address and they had said that as long as her income is not more than £62.90 per week (for those under 25) over the last year, after tax then she can get free prescriptions, eye tests etc for a year. If she does not get the full amount to get free presciptions, then apparently the new financial year starts in Sept and it might be worth re-applying as although she will get the student loan she will have more outgoings such rent etc to take off the loan.0 -

A door stop/wedge. When I first moved into halls it was really nice to be able to wedge my door open as I unpacked etc and then people said hi. Just don't like the halls people see if they are fire doors.0

Spare mugs - being able to offer drinks to 3-4 people make your room a hive of activity in the first few days.
Ditto bottle opener, corkscrew and can openers.
You can also find door locks in camping shops that ensure the bright sparks who have worked out how to slip the lock cannot get in during the night and tip your bed up etc.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Marvel milk powder, or cartons of long life milk. Shared fridges are a nightmare.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0

I sent both mine off with a pack of teabags, a jar each of coffee and chocolate, a carton of long life milk, a packet of Jaffa cakes and a home made cake in a tin for breaking the ice with fellow sharers.'Never argue with an idiot. I would no longer pack blu tac as a lot of the tenancies forbid this in rooms or you risk redec costs. A lot of tenancy agreements now state no use of it at all. Double check your Sons tenancy.
Don't forget the cleaning products and loo rolls 😀0
