Some unis don't let you use blu-tack on the walls in halls and you can risk a fine if they catch you - I know my uni was really hot on it. White-tack might be a better option, or you could investigate the poster hanging strips you can get.
A bag of change for the washers/dryers would be appreciated, I know it was like gold dust in my halls!0 -
Paracetamol, settlers, multi-vits.......also (if student is female) tampons and hot water bottle!0

Spare charger for his phone. Wallplanner, writing pads. Favourite sweater/top for those homesick moments he's sure he won't have.
Industrial size bag of pasta and a cook book. First aid stuff, hangover meds and stuff to deal with the trots.
Wrap the box in brown paper and stick one packet of condoms on top (like it's a sample of the contents). And watch him blush....LBM July 2006. Debt free 01 Sept 12 .. :T

My daughter's fave gadget became her hand blender for making cheap soup but this may not be considered a useful item by some students.
A couple of cheap USB sticks could be handy.
Those boxes of make your own cupcakes etc went down well too as a quick sweet fix with a bot of fun without having to buy flour, sugar etc.
Maybe a water bottle if not living in halls as student houses are generally freezing."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

new pencil case with a stash of biros, gel pens in different colours, set of highlighters, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpner, small pair of scissors, stapler and staples. I may be old-fashioned but a small stash of paper clips, a large bull dog clip, clipboard, treasury tags, sticky labels, pack of clear pockets for filing, small folder for carrying papers around, larger leaver arch file for filing, pack of file dividers etc. would be very welcome in my household!0
