Does everyone have this amount of clothes?

I've just converted a spare bedroom into a walk in wardrobe cüm dressing room for Mrs G but I suspect that, without a bit of a clear out, it may still not be big enough.0

I'm a total non hoarded. I go too much the other way.
Winter stuff gets put in the attic and summer stuff comes down etc.
At the end of summer I bin a lot I don't want to take into next year.
I don't spend a lot on clothes tho, it's mostly primarni. I live in vest tops and cropped jeans in summer too.
My work wardrobe always stays in the bedroom. One double wardrobe of work stuff.
I have a double wardrobe of summer clothes at the moment, 3 drawers and under bed 'holiday' stuff. I do own about 12 bikinis, but they probably get the most wear out of all my clothes!Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

I have a 2 x 2 door wardrobes, one is for coats, jackets and some holiday clothes.
I also have 5 drawers and a shoe store. I have regular clear outs but frequently end up regretting throwing some stuff away.0 -
We have one wardrobe and one chest. The chest has stuff we don't wear. I still think we could get rid of about half (and will). I mainly wear dresses so saves half the room!0

I used to have a huge amount of clothing - mostly because I'd spent serious money on some items and kept them for years and years. Even though I didn't wear them much anymore! I'd tell myself - gosh that coat was more than a months salary, I can't possibly send it to a charity shop, I need to keep it to get my money's worth! When I realised this was ridiculous - and had a declutter and rationalisation - I looked more closely at the clothing I did actually wear. It turned out to be a mix of a few favourite labels that I'd bought 2nd hand on eBay (usually colourful & slightly mad) and some slightly tarty stuff from a few very cheap clothing websites.
So now, I have a small wardrobe and a chest of drawers with my summer clothes in and a plastic underbed storage crate with my winter sweater and coats packed away. I tend to get rid of clothing on a regular basis and I do this with no guilt at all, as I've not spent much money on anything. If I buy a charity shop skirt for £3 and wear it five or six times, I consider it's paid for itself and I can donate it back to another charity shop. Then, I can buy something else!0 -
The danger is decay and vermin.
If the clothes aren't cleaned, aired and inspected on a regular basis, then things can fall apart.
Rubber disintegrates, patent leather peels, leather becomes stiff and moths can take a hold.
Even if you have the space, you must bring stuff out and clean it regularly. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Wow! That's a lot of clothes storage. I have half a double wardrobe hanging space, half of the shelf above, and two drawers - one for undies and the other for socks. My shoes have an Ikea shoe cupboard in the hall (8 pairs) and the other 4 pairs are at the bottom of the wardrobe. I do take part in Project 333 though where you have 33 items of clothing for 3 months, and I like to keep it simple.
I don't think it matters how many clothes you have if you have the storage space and you wear them. If you're running out of space you should probably have a clearout before you buy more storage, I like trying everything on to check if it still fits/needs any repairs/if you still like it. Then I group my clothes so all my tops go together in colour order from light to dark, same with skirts. I like organising!"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." It might sound strange, but I think my problem is that I don't have enough clothes that I actually like to wear. I only wear about a quarter of it but I keep all the other stuff so it looks like I have loads.
I think the solution is to buy more clothes that I'll actually use. It'll make it much easier to clear out the other stuff. My partner has suggested getting rid of 3 items I never wear in exchange for every new item.0
