I think most people must buy clothes on a more regular basis than me, and get rid of the old ones. I have stuff that is about a decade old and I can't remember when I last wore them, but they're still in great condition.

I know if I buy another wardrobe, it'll be filled in no time, and the house is really too small for it.

I helped my daughter pack to move flat. After she had given stuff to the charity shops, there were 102 dresses, plus others in the wash!
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

I have just at Easter got rid of a whole lot of clothes, down to 5 storage tubs, the kind with wheels that fit under the bed.
One tub is just tour t-shirts some from decades ago. One is the rarely needed going out stuff, one is jeans and jumpers, one is the stuff i wear daily ( jog bottoms and thin t shirts) this gets replaced often, being a cleaner means I go through those clothes quickly. Just realized final tub has photos, kids drawings etc no actual clothes in it :D
Charity shop got maybe 20 black bags out of me.
Then I have about 9 outdoor jackets and a rug.
I did it for a good reason but I feel lighter somehow, less burdened.
Previously had stuff in wardrobe/attic/cupboard under the stairs etc.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

Bit of a strange question but I've recently moved to a much smaller house, and I've realised that I have a lot of stuff! For my clothes alone, I now have an average sized double wardrobe, a large chest of 8 drawers, another chest of 5 drawers, and a big trunk/ottoman type thing. All are packed full and to be honest, I could really do with another wardrobe. This doesn't include outdoor coats which are now taking up 8 coat hooks in the hall.

Is this unusual, or do most people have this amount? I don't know how to fit everything in.
    Not for me.

We have 10 feet of wardrobe space - built-in floor-to-ceiling - in each of 2 bedrooms, plus a further 6 feet in another bedroom.
Our main bedroom has 4 x 3 drawer units, plus a further 2 in another bedroom.
    All are full.
I have 2 shoe wardrobes which are packed full.

I do get rid of some stuff to charity shops but I buy far more than I get rid of.
It's now got to the stage that I have to really think hard before buying another item.

    I think I'm a bit of a hoarder.:o

Personally I think that is a lot, but at least going by the other posts you are not alone! I have one double wardrobe and three drawers - for everything. Even then I feel this is too much and I have things I haven't worn for ages, so I'm in the process of getting rid of more of it, can't stand too much stuff - it's a waste of time, space, money and energy!

We have 3 double wardrobes and a single shelving unit and they're all full! Though one of them is full of bulky leather biker clothes.

I had a clear out when we moved and I couldn't bring myself to throw anything else away. I keep meaning to pack a load of stuff in the loft in a suitcase and then throw the whole thing away without looking in it if I haven't missed anything in a year.

I did try this with handbags though and I've already been up the loft twice since January :o

I don't know how people cope in one bed flats. My friend has far more clothes and shoes than me but she somehow managed to store them all in a 1 bed flat!

I have two triple wardrobes in my bedrooms, but they are master wardrobes, so double rails. It's like having 6 double wardrobes :-)
I have another double wardrobe in the spare room, again a master, so like having two.
I have 2 three drawer bedside cabinets & one 6 drawer chest.
    All for me :-)
Oh & a 6 foot tall shoe wardrobe, it's only single width though, so not quite big enough.

More and more I'm coming round to this way of thinking.

Recently I've had a massive clear out (not just clothes) and have either sold stuff on eBay, charity shopped it or threw it out. I'll put items on eBay, and then if they don't sell, they'll go in the charity shop bag for the next time I'm down there.

I've got one double wardrobe and about 4-5 draws of clothes. As someone mentioned above, most people only tend to wear a percentage of things, and they say if you haven't worn it in over a year then you probably never will (I'm talking everyday clothing here, not dressy stuff) and I'm finding that to be true.

My downfall used to be (don't hardly buy many nowadays) handbags. I've got 3 overhead cupboards, one has clutch bags/small bags in, another has medium sized bags, and the third big bags/overnight bags in. I think at the last count (although I have got rid of some since then) there was over 100!

 That's a lot! Surely you must have a lot you never/ rarely wear? The thought of having that much would really stress me out lol!
