    Are you male or female?

I think we can safely say it's a male :D

It would be interesting to know how much clothing his wife has as, generally, women have more ...... much more.

You can't make assumptions. I read the list through a couple of times and thought that it would work well with comfortable shoes.
  • I have 10 dresses, 5 summer, 5 winter.
1 smart jacket, 1 evening jacket, 3 cardigans.
These are all in one wardrobe, I have 3 drawers, one containing underwear, one containing scarves etc, one containing play clothes (corsets, pvc, leather etc).
I've just bought 2 pairs of shoes & thrown 2 pairs away that were worn out, I have one pair of boots & 1 pair of trainers.
    Chin up, Titus out.

If the question was directed at me: I'm male. But I cannot see why the strategy wouldn't work for a woman. It's basically mixing and matching, and buying versatile clothing.

I agree - but my gut feel is male from the list of clothes.

Most women would have a dress or skirt in their wardrobe.
    A drawer full of sock/underwear/ties/hankies.
And I think the lack of bras on this list (as well as mention of ties) swings the balance over to the male side.

I may be wrong though. ;)

Does the strategy work for your wife?

She does have more. 2 wardrobes actually. But she is becoming more and more attuned to my minimal wardrobe styles.

Before: £10 sweater from new look on sale. Buy right away.

Now: hmmm, do I need it, is it made of natural fibres, does it go with my wardrobe, I'll pass...

Yup, mostly, but we are still in the phasing out part for her. She would rather wear things out, than to chuck them out.

For the most part, we have reduced ill-fitting clothes and multiples. i.e. 3 black jeans; 2 sent to charity etc

Yup, sorry forgot to mention my footwear.
    1x black oxfords
    1x brown brogue
    1x blue suede boat shoes
1x converse hi (will replace with running shoes when worn)
    1x slippers
    1x flip-flops

DW and 3 DKs have about 8 tall double wardrobes plus 5 chest of drawers between them...but apparently they never have anyhtign to wear so DW has to spend £x hundreds per month.

Obviosuly the money is a problem but living in a house with junk everywhere and all the cupboards bursting open is actually more depressing :(
    I think....
