Does everyone have this amount of clothes?

I agree that it's a waste of holiday Kim Kim. The only time we've washed clothes whilst on holiday was when we had a washing machine and a tumble dryer in our room so it was quick, easy and free to put a load on.
Lunar - I totally agree that the whole footwear debate does boil down to the destination! We're going to Orlando for our holiday this year so will be wearing my super comfy padded flip flops or trainers during the park days, other flip flops for pool days, water shoes for the water parks and pretty beaded flip flops or wedges for going out in the evening. 6 pairs of shoes, not really extravagant but it will give a good variety for the different things we're doing. After walking around in one pair of shoes all day, I like to switch in the evening to something different to give my feet a break.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Absolutely not!
If we want a cuppa in the morning, we buy it.
Actually, we usually have a couple of glasses of water in the morning along with some fruit.
TBH, tea/coffee is not something we miss, we only have a couple of cups per day anyway.
But you shop for washpowder (or take your own = weight in a suitcase), load the machine, take it out, hang it to dry, iron it.
Why would I (and I'm just speaking personally) bother with all that when I have enough clothes and enough weight allowance to be able to take sufficiant clothes on holiday without needing to spend my precious holiday time washing stuff through?
Well, I always go on holiday by car and enjoy shopping in another country anyway. As for ironing - don't even do it at home.:o
I couldn't get out of bed without having a cup of tea in the morning either.
Since retiring, my whole life has been a holiday so don't really need to spend the time differently when away.0 -
Just tallied up and I've got 3 double wardobes, 3 large drawers and 6 small drawers.
And no I don't wear all of it but it doesn't get worn through the year and I have at least an annual cull so keep on top of it.
So I don't think yours sounds at all excessive no.0 -

it does mean I never have to tackle a post-holiday wash mountain though.
Even if the accommodation I was staying in had a washing machine, I wouldn't bother using it to bring clean clothes home as thiose clean clothes would be in a suitcase with shoes/sandals that had been worn and the newly washed clothes would - imho - need washing again.

I don't know, I wouldn't judge you but I do think its a waste of holiday time! Would you not rather carry enough clothes for the time you're away and spend your holiday doing sightseeing, activities, or whatever you went on holiday for? I don't find washing to be a massively arduous task on getting home, but I'd resent it if I was missing out on something interesting to do it on my hols!0 -
Where do you wash them?
In hotels they charge by the item & it's very costly.
Do you hunt out public laundrettes?
It must take half a day, finding one, getting laundry there, doing it, carting it back?
Plus laundrettes are quite expensive - in comparrison to using your home machine I mean. I take my duvet to the big machine in the nearest laundrette now & then.
Don't you think that's a waste of your holiday time - doing laundry?
We always go self catering and everywhere has its own washing machine. I wouldn't do it if staying in a hotel!0 -

But going to say Greece or Turkey, I want to spend as much time as possible seeing & doing things that I can't see or do at home so washing my or OH's smalls in a bathroom sink - to reduce my luggage weight or cut down on washing when I get home - is pretty low on my 'must do' list. :rotfl:0 -

You spend 5 minutes putting stuff in the machine before you go out for the day and 5 minutes taking it out when you get back. It's really no time or effort - less even than running the dishwasher.0 -
For washing powder?
I've been retired since 2003 with no commitments such as babysitting grandchildren so can pretty much do as I please each day at home.

That's why the good lord puts washing machines in apartments and gites - I wouldn't spend time handwashing either.
Re the shopping, you see a lot of local culture doing ordinary shopping, it makes you feel a less of a tourist and I don't want to eat out 3 times a day anyway.0 -
I wouldn't consider anything that had been hand-washed in a sink to be clean enough so it would have to be washed again in a machine when I got home.
Even if the accommodation I was staying in had a washing machine, I wouldn't bother using it to bring clean clothes home as thiose clean clothes would be in a suitcase with shoes/sandals that had been worn and the newly washed clothes would - imho - need washing again.

Surely that's the case when you travel out, or do you only take brand new shoes on holiday?0
