Why are dogs not welcome in your mother's house?

Sorry to hear about your migraine. :( Though excellent news re. the £0 bill.

How do you get the cinema codes and can you use them in small, independent cinemas? I am going to take my parents to see Dad's Army when it comes to Wirksworth (not for a few weeks). :)
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • Visual migraines - I only heard about these in the past year for the first time, the first one I took was frightening as didn't know what it was  the next although knew what it was - still frightening. All episodes now gone, no idea what triggers them - although in my mind - stress was a factor - but who knows.

Hope yours are not extreme and will subside as quick as they appear.
Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's

  • Sorry to hear about your Mum, Ali. You've had some wonderful suggestions from everyone so far and the only other thing I can think of, if she doesn't already have one, is one of those lovely soft teddy bear blankets from D*nelm (can probably get them from elsewhere). We got one for my Nanna who is mostly immobile and she loves to sit and stroke it and snuggle up in it.

Hope you're migraine eases quickly. Take it easy and make sure you look after yourself.

Dog hair and dust worsen her condition.

I think it's just for Cineworld and via comparethemarket insurance - buy a cheap insurance product and sign up to get a code each week (for a year) for 2 for 1 tickets. Called Meerkat Movies.

GP thought chronic stress or MS with mine (had some seriously frightening symptoms), they first started appearing in June 2014 swiftly followed by onset of panic attacks when driving. MRI scans and tests later, it was diagnosed last September as a disk in my neck (which most likely pushes on a blood vessel and causes the visual migraine)..which tends to happen when stressed and tense!

Thanks MG, that's a lovely idea too, think she'd like one of those.

So much for my early night :rotfl: Blame the landline, it's been busy tonight :)

Thanks for the info re. cinema. There's a cineworld in Chesterfield but it's so rare we go to the cinema, in fact it's years since I've been.

Forgot to un-set the alarm from yesterday morning so was up at 7am. One of the dogs had been unwell overnight so was greeted with that. Not the best start to the day!

Structural engineer has just emailed saying he's finishing 'War and Peace' and I'll have it later today. Sounds hefty and complicated...which probably translates to expensive. I'll wait and see! Upside is steel is cheap at the moment but can't exactly store a massive T beam anywhere!

Debating whether to resurrect my old TTing, sending it to a holding account whilst waiting for the once a month payment date to roll around. It's trying to find the best balance of rebuilding the EF after the ERC payment, saving for extension and OPing.

Pottering this morning with cinema later, nice to have a lazier day. Even lazier tomorrow if the snow arrives that is forecast :D

I just wondered if for once it might be worth ignoring the financial side and looking at the happiness factor. You wouldn't have looked at an extension if it wasn't something that you wanted & would make you happy. I know I can only go from how I would feel , but personally I would go for emergency fund, followed by extension 'shell', then go for the mortgage with extension bits alongside.
  • We are due snow tonight, given it is on high ground, so unlikely to see any locally, but you never know..
