Love blue cars, says she who has a blue one too :D

Good point on sunlight, might be worth investing in something like Aut0glym's protection polish. Hair conditioner for paintwork :D. Friend uses it on their red car and it hasn't faded at all after 8 years - brings up the depth of colour beautifully and is so shiny.

Alex you're right, I could drop the sports and just have a convertible - the time will come when I won't need more than 2 full size seats so that's a good marker for change. DS isn't interested in cars at all unfortunately - all those car shows I took him to when he was young hasn't rubbed off at all!

So we're an inch shorter in the hair department now and £28 less in the bank after the hairdresser visit and eyebrow thread for me..though DS is in danger of a monobrow but no amount of persuading will get him near the beautician's hands :rotfl:

I've chosen and bought the trim paint for the summer house finally :D £14.33 spent. Another job on the To Do list, along with watching 'Theory of Everything' as DS has been leant the DVD.

School letter arrived by post asking for next half term's minibus fees - £84 for that.

No other spending this weekend - I'm continuing my Tidy Friday on a Saturday, with the aim of making space to store wrapped Christmas presents once I get that far!

As ever, the weekend is flying by and the To Do list has plenty of things crossed off.

Some of the summer house panels have 2 coats of paint on them now, but will need a third for full coverage.

Ironing consisted of DS's shirts and 2 t-shirts, rest of washing put away, 5 chilli dinners went into the freezer from the batch made last night, kitchen/utility cleaned and tidied and grey hairs coloured :D

iPad charger cable finally gave up working, so bought a replacement for £9.99 today. Unplanned spend, but one of those needed items.

    Financials:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Inbox £s - up a tad at £9.51
    - Qmee - cashed out the 61p, pot back at zero

Rest of today is dinner, prep for DS and work tomorrow. Not forgetting some spreadsheet fiddling too :D

I keep saying this Ali and you still won't listen but I'll try again; what you need in your life is a Triumph Stag. :)

The words iPad and needed item, should never occur together ... ;)

    Nooooooo...!!

Just wait until LittleK's world includes gadgets....;). It's easy to say won't allow x until he is y years old, but reality can be school needs (homework on line), peer pressure or them just wanting one.

Think DS was about 9 when we caved - which was a combo of school and him wanting his own. Be prepared! :)

:rotfl: Will admit the peer pressure element is a plus point for him staying at current school. It's a very friendly atmosphere there with very little competition between children to own the latest gadget / fashion.

Should he need to use a computer for school, I'll let him use mine. Believe it or not, it's expected for them to know a little bit about computers even at my son's age and have a "favourite computer game". :( Think they were quite shocked that my son does not use computers for anything and we have no TV but he knows how to use a record player.

Cannot understand why he would need an iPad? Desktop / laptop computer, I can see a use for in the future but not an iPad. My wife has one of those, so I'm sure if he needed one he could use hers.

Depends what the school use... DS's last school was full of iPads, his current school it's suites of desktop PCs.

And on individual circumstances - DS was travelling in the car for 5 hrs alternate weekends up until age 11, on the train with me quite alot for 1-2 hrs and holiday flights, replacing his broken DVD player with the second hand iPad (courtesy of his Dad's friend) was a sound investment.

He's got his laptop too... but cares not for a mobile phone.

    Swings and roundabouts :)

So as 2015 starts to hurtle towards it's end, I wanted to get to the bottom of how much I've really OP'd since the start of 2014.

The monthly payment to pay off at end of set term was £1032.41 and I'd been using that as the ongoing minimum too. Reality is that the minimum has reduced and therefore OP's have been slightly higher. Woop :j

So a new OP to date figure (drum roll please :D) £4,539.77 - an extra £349.88 on what I thought. :T

Going to enjoy updating sig :D

On a roll now - have just applied for the TSB account for the 5% interest on £2k and then will open a Reg Saver...and of course the cashback on contactless.

So far so good, I was eligible :D

School have a few desktops and laptops, no iPads that I'm aware of. I still don't understand what iPads are actually used for in most people's lives. My wife has one for "work" (they actually gave it to her!) but I fail to see why she needs it or what the point of it is. Technology for technology's sake so far as I'm concerned.

I suppose I can see the point for the amount of travelling your son was doing. We're quite lucky that son is happy to do some car spotting or listening to the radio. I often get him to clap along to the music or sing the main theme back which keeps him entertained. One day though, I'm sure he'll work out other kids have these gadgets, will be interesting to see what happens then.

    All excellent news. :D

Seems the spreadsheet fiddling pays off, I've no idea how I've done this past year apart from the figure I've managed to save. :o
