Thanks for input on account interest, it'll carry on being moved in that case - likely into the 3% one as that won't be full immediately so it'll compound that way :)

Alex - good to hear you're starting to use Excel and finding it beneficial. Sorry to hear things aren't so good, have my fingers crossed they improve.

SJ - you'll be hitting £25k in less months than me at the rate you're going - under 2 years?

I ought to find a better account for my day to day savings. At the moment I don't think anything is earnt. :( Do often talk about opening a new account but never get beyond the bank's homepage. :o

I'm not yet using Excel for personal finances though am starting to see how it could be done. Seem to have very little time at the moment to set anything up. Don't really know where the days are going.

Thanks, I really am starting to wish my wife would grow up, to be honest. Tonight she's away with work but has spent quite a lot of money, no doubt trying to live like some 18 year old fresher.:mad: For all the times I said on my debt free diary that none of the debt was her fault, now I look back I see something different: she wanted long haul holidays abroad (going to parents' apartment wasn't good enough for her), the latest gadgets, nights out etc. etc. and was prepared to get into debt but not in her own name. I complied then saw it as my problem. She could choose to have nothing to do with it and blame me as none of the bills were in her name. To be fair to her, I wasn't good with money and did spend a lot but I'm not convinced it was all my problem now. What to do though, I don't know.

If we keep going at current rate it should be 25k in 23 months, but a long way to go before that including some house work later this year that'll be about 2-2.5k.

    MOP Day is here :j

Sneaked in an additional £10, so payment for May was £925 capital and brings me down to £108,165. Works out an OP of £233.78.

Another brick coloured in and another month off the end date to April 2026 (still aiming for Dec 23).

    Scores on doors then:

    £133,444 start
    £109,090 last month
    £108,165 now

    Split:

    Part 1 - last month £16,865 - now £15,940
Part 2 - last month £92,225 stays as is

OPs to date up at £6,568.14. Total paid off hits another mini milestone of over £25k at £25,279 :j

LTV is dropping like a stone based on quickly rising prices here, looking at 36% with sold prices @ £300k...asking prices for similar are at £325k now . Crazy.

Interest should be @ £233.48, hitting the £2 drop I was aiming for.

    A good month! :D

Brilliant awareness there Alex AK :T

And great work Ali. Love the colouring in of a new brick :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Thanks all :)

Lil, to move and be MF has its appeals, but it's all relative as £200k would currently buy a 3 bed terrace in a dodgy area that needs modernisation/refurb.

I wonder if all the new houses being built are pushing prices up too - £405k for a 4 bed semi with tiny garden and 1 parking space  They're selling though!

Love this house and will stay put until DS finishes his education at least, after that - who knows! :)

I know what you mean about new houses in my area they are half the size of a semi i went to see a 3 bed new build was 140k compared to my 3 bed semi i got for 88k over 50k difference for half the space crazy really

i can see why new builds are in demand tho with some help you can get the government will always try to fill them houses up with help to buy ect

Very true about the Government help, forgot about that. Plus we've really good rail and major road links.

Food shop done for the week at Ald! and £24.64 spent. I didn't think I needed much either so feels expensive.

Interesting phone call to the Spanish Bank this morning to advise of the payment I'd sent. I wanted to check minimum was now £100 and not £500, to which I was told less can be paid without penalty and there's nothing they can do to stop that, but they prefer £100 min. I'm not sure I trust that information though!

Also can't work out where they have taken the 20% payments allowed from - apparently I have £14,400 left that I can pay without penalty this year. Add the £4,825 paid already = £19,225 allowance. That means the start point would be £96,125. Completely out!

I'll just carry on regardless and thank goodness for my spreadsheets :rotfl:
