How much would you pay a family member to babysit?

I'm babysitting my friends children tonight and I've never considered asking for money - and I've done it loads of times before and really dislike doing it! Surely you do it because they are either related or a friend, maybe I'm too nice...........
Yes you are, start asking your friend for favours and see how far you get...

£50!! Blimey. Seems an awful lot and she will expect that every time then too. A family member I would usually think wouldn't expect payment unless maybe it was a a teenager doing it for the dosh or it cost them a bit to do it for you ie petrol etc."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Now if she did the cleaning instead of making the tea, 5 quid an hour would be fair and there is some ironing which i would chuck in an extra £2.50 as a bonus. Is it wrong to ask her to do that as well? It would stop her from getting bored...

If she's a teen don't mix responsibilities of childminding and ironing for goodness sake :DNever again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
(This is a Spinkz thread, so I'm not sure why people are offering serious replies...)
Spinkzy, I'd offer £50, and throw the lasagne in for free. Don't give her your netflix password - she'll end up seeing all the movies you've been watching which wifey doesn't know about...and then she'll be costing you a hell of a lot more than £50.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Who charges to look after such close family? Especially as a one off?0

If the baby sitter was only young, maybe a teenager i'd expect to pay them. But not an adult family member, pay the taxi for her to go home if she needed it but that's about it.
Paying anyone £50 it would have to be Christmas or New Year, but not a normal night.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Can't you leave the wifey at home with the kids, take her sister and the fifty quid and have some fun? She can make you something better than a lasagne for when you eventually get in.....0

Free for family and close friends, £5/hour to others. £50 sounds a lot - she must be planning a loooonnng night out. Something special for you!0
