How much would you pay a family member to babysit?

Me and wifey are going out tonight tearing up the dance floor so we have her sister babysitting for us. Wifey is going to give her 50 quid but i think it should be free, after all she is their aunt! I have made her a lasagne and given her the password to my netflix which i think is more than enough :D

£50? Wow it's gone up since I used to babysit :rotfl:
I used to get about £5 or £10 but that was years ago. I wouldn't charge if it was my sister's kids, though.

The lasagne and netflix access is about a fiver and she is staying the night! If anything it should be her paying us :rotfl:

If it is a really good, homemade lasagne then I would charge nothing.

If it is made using a vile Dolmio sauce or similar gunk from a jar then £50 would be the least I would expect.
  • I'd give her the £50.00 ish, you cant expect people to look after your kids for nothing. Most people find babysitting family member kids boring and tedious.
Food and the netflix isnt enough, if you have money to go out then you have money to pay her. So stop being tight.

I can't understand why you think she should do it for free?

It is really good and all homemade! Women love it when you make an effort and as the saying goes, the way to a womans heart is through her stomach :D

    I'd be happier if the 50ish was 15 :p

Hi, I think families should help each other out. I am a granny now and it is a pleasure to be asked to look after the grandchildren.
    Happy to have them.
When they are collected I have been given a token gift of flowers/ small pot plant.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
