Tesco "to be more competitive"

Apparently it has new top management to oversee Tesco's return to World Domination. The new CEO is determined to ensure "greater value for money than ever for all our customers" (or, well, what customers still remain.)
Today, we happened to pop into our local Tesco superstore for some petrol 'cos it's only a half mile from us and there in the shop was a lunch bar thingie stocked with what are labeled as NEW Tesco salads.
You get baby potatoes and lettuce and tomatoes and cucumber and boiled egg and a nice squishy dressing in a little plastic bag, plus a plastic knife and fork, all in a convenient circular plastic bowl.
£2.50p.
We were actually on our way to our local Aldi, there to buy some more of its own lunch bar offering which we've enjoyed before when we've been in too much of a hurry to make a salad ourselves.

£1.49p.
Hope the new CEO is pleased with the way things are going.

Hello, new poster. I'll resist making yet another stupid comparison, viz: the quality of your own contribution compared to that of any other MSEr. When you've finished doing an inventory of everything in Tesco against everything like-for-like in Aldi, do come back. Or then again . . . perhaps not. :eek:0

Are you essentially saying you think you're smarter or know more than the current CEO of Tesco's in regards to running a multinational retail business? If your answer is yes I can tell you one thing........you are completely deluded!!0 -
Big difference between the two - location. Maybe you can get in and out of the Tesco within a few minutes whereas Aldi can be further out of town/less handy for offices.0

Not keen on Aldi, yes its cheaper, but the 15-20 min queue with the dregs of society negates any savings lol
(This is from using the Kilburn NW6 store, other stores are available possibly without the dregs)0 -
Dregs? Which one has a security guard on the door? Round here it's tesco.0

Every time I go to Aldi, there is a queue of 6-8 people at the till, and it takes ages.
Not saying that Tesco are much better.
I try to avoid both as much as I can.0 -

I haven't even bothered with aldi this year, it's too good! they queue to get in the car park, it's absolutely rammed in there now and they put two more tills in. Luckily there is a lidl being built just round the corner with a large car park so by the end of the year I'll never have to go to tesco again.0 -
I wish Tesco would have SOME of their basic food range, in Express stores..breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0

I bought "salad" from lidl a few weeks ago. Never again. It smelled like a fish tank which hadn't been cleaned on months.
Not much of a saving when you need to chuck it out and buy a decent replacement anyway.0 -
Morrisons have also decided to be more competitive, they have a great deal on Tuna today.0
