We are currently back with PlusNet for landline/BB after a disastrous switch to TalkTalk. Our speed is appalling as we live in the sticks - roughly 2.2mb! No chance of cable/fibre for the foreseeable future.
We currently pay approx. £36 per month (in contract for another 6 months) for a very basic package, unlimited data usage (albeit the internet is very slow) and calls. No TV.
This seems a huge amount to pay and to cap it all I've just received an email from them advising rental increases.
following the appalling customer service we received from TalkTalk, I am massively wary of switching (we are also very limited in terms of provider); however I don't see how the current cost can be justified. It would seem BT is our only alternative but that kind of feels like making a pact with the devil!!
If anyone has any suggestions or ways in which I can get cost down with PlusNet I'd be really gratefuk

So what are you paying for each part - ie line rental, BB and any call package like Anytime?
Are you in a Market 1 area?If anyone has any suggestions or ways in which I can get cost down with PlusNet I'd be really gratefuk
Phone their Customer Options Team and say you are thinking of leaving because of the increases. When did you get your email advising the increases?
Some have had success getting them to match SSE BB/Line Rental deal. Would that be available in your area? If it is use that as your bargaining chip.0 -
TT Plus Net and BT are all coming down the same pipe .
You are already with Bt as PN is part of the group .
However price is about the norm .Line rental BT will be £17-99 pm after sept increase .
Speed well its the same question as always have you actually tested the speed at the master socket via ethernet cable connection .That will show what is reaching the house and if a big difference will be down to your wiring or wifi .0 -
Thanks for responses. Yep they all come down same pipe so I know there won't be much difference in speed.
We pay £16.99 for line rental (after increase) and £15.99 for the BB.0 -
List what services you pay for .0

You're either in a Market 1 area paying that price for BB or it's massively overpriced.
What exchange are you on?0 -
So this months invoice shows:
£16.99 PlusNet Unlimited (+ £65.10 termination fee before contract ends 02/16)
£15.95 PlusNet Anytime
£0.99 caller display
£5.00 call plan
£5.00 call charges (so whats the point of call plan??)
-£6.99 special offer discount
According to invoice we are Market 1, whatever that means!
No idea what our exchange is0 -
ah so Market 1 means we are one of the unfortunate few who have to pay a regulated fee!
how the hell does that work? Yes we are rural but only Suffolk, not as if we're in Outer Hebrides!0 -

So that you can avoid any call charges if you watch what numbers you are phoning.
What were the call charges for? Was it numbers outwith the call plan or did you talk for over an hour?According to invoice we are Market 1, whatever that means!
Market 1 means that only BTw providers are there and no LLU providers which can make it cheaper.

Did you try the link I gave you to SSE to see if it's available to you?No idea what our exchange is
Put your details into this and it will tell you. It will also tell you what providers are available at your exchange just in case it's different from when you joined PlusNet.

Is it Sky LLU or the awful Sky Connect through BTw?0
