Who puts them in, the driver with his own magic bottle squirts some in ?
How big his his bottle in 4500l of fuel ?
How does it mix, oil based products are very difficult to blend and require specialist machinery .
Do we really believe the driver climbs up and tips in some snake oil that self mixes itself with the fuel.
The machine/pump does it for you , you just need to know where you are taking it to retail it0 -
What's wrong with leaving a decent car at an airport?
Nothing at all. Thousands do. I walk past £70,000 new rangies that lie at the airport all week.
Just restricts Mrs Motorguy when i'm not around.
Dont have any need for two pricey cars, so the jag estate does the airport runs, weekend shopping runs, and carries the dogs about.
Pic of it with the 370Z beside it - had just test driven the jag then.
Of (mild) interest, its the last year they did them without a DPF and with a mechanical EGR valve, not the troublesome electronic one.0 -
There can't be many missuses (not so sure of the plural of missus) that would prefer the sporty Nissan to the comfy Jag.....0

She does. She has a strong history with performance cars.
Theres only the two of us (son just about to move out and he has his own car), so its not like we've a squad of kids to accommodate.
Thus a 370z as our "main" car works for us.0 -

The sad thing is that rather than agreeing to disagree some people start treating those who think differently as idiots for holding an opposite view to theirs
Well you said it , you seem to think your opinion is the only one that should prevail , don't be so pompous !You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

The best way to describe the difference is that some of the premium fuels burn more effectively , bit like you having a fire which burns quite nicely but throw a bit of Petrol, meths, alcohol onto it and it burns a bit hotter for a short period of time , soak all the wood on the fire in petrol for a few days and the fire will burn alot hotter .. Thats what the additive does like in Shell Nitro etc
No, it doesn't. The additive in Shell Nitro is a detergent as I previously posted.. nothing more. Shell don't make any claims, as far as I can see, that their fuel "burns hotter" or better than anyone elses but that it helps keep the engine clean(er). That's it!
Ok over a period of time this may be a benefit but not one you will see by using the odd tankfull.
If you compare the product data sheets for both Shell Nitro diesel & Greenergy diesel you will notice that they are virtually identical in specs... both conforming to EN 590 with nothing extra.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
I think Shell use something like this:
Kerocom® additives include components, such as detergents (PIBSI), used in the manufacture of fuel additive packages.
Kerocom® PIBSI is a dispersant/detergent additive for the use in multifunctional packages for middle distillates, especially for use in premium diesel fuel or heating oil.
It reduces soot formation and improves the fuel efficiency/economy significantly.
Kerocom® PIBSI prevents problems associated with the accumulation of injector deposits and has, therefore, an indirect positive effect on emissions (smoke, carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons and particulates).
Kerocom® PIBSI also helps to reduce maintenance costs by providing corrosion inhibition.0
