Hope I've posted this in the right place.
I'm just wondering if anybody has ever bought a reconditioned computer from either Cash Converter or Cash Generator and if so, were you happy in an overall sense with your purchase?
    Thank you.
I didn't specifically start a thread about buying a new computer did I?
I don't understand why you started a thread about buying a new laptop, if your laptop is fine.
Was it meant for someone else?
I've had my computer since 2009. Yes, at the moment it's working well enough, but I realise at some point I will need to replace it, and I started the thread to explore where I should consider buying another one when the time comes.
I've had some useful and helpful replies, including yours, which will help me in that decision.
    Thank you.

their reburbishment involves deleting personal files , deleting user profiles if possible , removing passwords or if there is a restore partition then defaulting the whole thing

    then a wipe over

possible replacing missing keyboard keys or low cost damaged parts

I've done this for them in the past ;)

In this case, changing the HDD for a SSD and putting the HDD into an inexpensive caddy would be recommended, as I would recommend a clean install of the OS to the SSD. It wouldn't be a reinstall of Vista.

A new SSD and more memory will cost more than some of these machines sell for

I found the stuff they do sell costs so much cheaper if I buy it from the original store, brand new, unused and boxed. ;)

I quoted £50 for the upgrade. So show us machine that sells for £50.

Where can you buy an SSD of a decent size and a chunk of memory for £50?

A 240gb SSD is in the region of £60, and 16gb ram is £80 odd.
  • My parents bought a Dell from Cash Converters, admittedly this was approx 15 years ago. It was stolen by a security guard from a local company which was only discovered when my mum rang Dell about obtaining a disk or something (I forget now).

Apparently CC weren't exactly helpful with the police when it came to tracking who had sold it in the first place.

Hence their nickname Crack Converters :)
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
