We have not denied them from using it temporarily - but they are denying us COMPLETELY from using it.

I'll leave it with you there, as I can't explain any further.

We the last guest used it temporarily, for two weeks.

It's shared so you either come to an agreement or no one parks there, including your guests.

Alas, they have hinted at non-involvement. We don't have any option to push them on this, hence the Police involvement instead.

When you say feature - do I assume you mean not necessarily a brick-wall - but something like a metal rod (etc) that juts out of the wall of the house?

Let your imagination run riot! But seriously you need to know who owns this piece of land, they are the people who really need to sort this out (and you would really need their permission to start building obstacles).

It might even turn out to be yours...or theirs!

I don't think he's saying that at all. He's saying that he has parking permits (presumably from the council) for parking his vehicles on the road, whereas these people don't so they park in this shared access thereby blocking his pedestrian access for his wheely bins and so forth.

    Perfectly understood, Bazster!

To clarify further - these people currently DO also have a Permit - but what they are doing each time the Permit runs out (annually...) is to stick their car in the Access-way for a couple of months - to save on buying a Permit.

Then when they have no more "need" for the Access-way (until the NEXT year...) - that's when they "invite an Airport user" to park their car in...and go off on Holiday.

If neither option happens - then they resort to piling their rubbish in the entrance to the Access-way (which the Police have agreed should only be done ONE DAY BEFORE Rubbish collection...and that's how the Police told them off the last time).

The last guest used it for 2 weeks - before and after which they piled rubbish across it to stop anyone else using it.

I think the "No one parks there" option is going to be the out-come - as our guests haven't been able to use it at all, since these people moved in.

I think he is saying exactly that.

No, he wants it to be his space.

Keep coming to the incorrect assumption - as I said, I've stopped trying to explain to you.

What do the deeds say about the access road? You may both have a covenant attached to your property that says you can't block access to the lane. Your recourse would be to sue.

    Who are they renting from?

I missed your 2nd line - they are renting from the previous occupiers (who don't want to get involved in the current issue).

Twice in your OP you said you wanted to use it for parking.

If it allows vehicle access to the rear, build a garage and start using it daily.

Unfortunately, the (relatively new) rear-extension of our house doesn't leave that much room.

So all in all, the Access leads to an effective (EDIT) *VEHICULAR* dead-end (our and their back gardens' gates)

(EDIT Addition - the Rubbish-way access is from our back gardens through said back garden gates, down the Access-way).

He'd struggle at the moment as there would be no access to it.
