You've completely missed the point, why should you be allowed to use it as a temporary additional parking spot if they can't park there?

I don't think he's saying that at all. He's saying that he has parking permits (presumably from the council) for parking his vehicles on the road, whereas these people don't so they park in this shared access thereby blocking his pedestrian access for his wheely bins and so forth.

Does he not mean that they want to use it for access not for parking?

    I'll try again...

We have not denied them from using it temporarily - but they are denying us COMPLETELY from using it.

I'll leave it with you there, as I can't explain any further.

If they take up the entire width of the alley with their car, do they exit the car through the sun roof....

We had also with the previous occupiers (who still own the house and have leased it to these people) allowed GUESTS to TEMPORARILY (i.e. for a day at most) park there.

It sounds like you were on good terms with these people so why don't you complain to them about the behaviour of their tenants?

If the access for a car is as tight as you say you could get some kind of feature built into the wall of your house which happens make the access a few inches narrower...

    Hi, Radders

With the previous occupiers (who still own the property...), we had an informal agreement to let both our visitors park there.

With the new lot - they routinely block off Access for long periods of time by using their (or others) vehicles.

And when they are NOT leaving vehicles in the Access-way
, they deny our usage of it (say for day-guests or for Tradesmen) by piling up Rubbish.

So Access is one part - and fairness of usage (i.e. as a temporary parking for visitors) is the other.

When the Police told them to stop leaving Rubbish in the Access-way and they (temporarily) stopped doing it - their subsequent action was to stick someone else's car in there for a long period of time (while that someone went off on Holiday).

The Police upon being informed of that last part said that leaving a vehicle in there for 2 weeks is a denial of Access - we are waiting to see what action they take.

Probably not but as the space required to exit a car the normal way can be far less space than is needed to get a wheelie bin past, (which is what the OP was complaining about in their opening post) what exactly is your point?

Alas, they have hinted at non-involvement. We don't have any option to push them on this, hence the Police involvement instead.

When you say feature - do I assume you mean not necessarily a brick-wall - but something like a metal rod (etc) that juts out of the wall of the house?

One can open the car door FRACTIONALLY enough to get out - but if you are a fat person...then the sun roof is the only option.

I think he is saying exactly that.

Then when they have pillaged the Access-way for their OWN uses...they are deliberately putting rubbish sacks / recycling containers (empty or full) at the entrance to the Access-way - to make sure WE or OUR guests cannot use it for OUR vehicles

However since their latest "friend" (or should that be "Cheap Airport Parking Customer"...??) left his car in the Access-way for 2 weeks recently when he went off to Pakistan, and then took it away when he returned - they have again put down Rubbish sacks to prevent us from using it for any kind of parking (i.e. temporary guests).

No, he wants it to be his space.
