These things take time.....

Beautiful day out there, lovely to see the sun shining.
OH has had a nightmare with the main PC and has stayed up all night trying to sort it out. Something to do with a back up gone wrong then everything crashed and we have lost all of our files including photos from 2012he still thinks he can sort it out but it will take time.
Today's plans was to have a day out walking but in light of OH pulling an all nighter plans will have to change so I am thinking of having a productive day.- empty washing basket
- go grocery shopping with a list (and stick to it)
- collect foam roller from @rgos
- batch cook for weekly work lunches
- clean bathroom
- tidy bedroom and put away clothes mountain on bedroom ottoman
- find some things to fleabay
- get bike and gym equipment on FB selling
- check for more surveys
The foam roller is to help with my upper back problems, found a really interesting site called sitting solutions which helps reverse the affects of time spent sitting at computers. For me its working on a PC and sitting marking for hours on end.
While sorting through some paperwork I came across some premium bond certificates with a value of £21 bought in 1968 by OH Dad, have checked online and it doesn't look like there are any unclaimed prized but I have downloaded a claim form and will send off with death certificate. The £21 might as well be released."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Chuffed with having a NSD and sold a bike on FB, not the selling site funny enough as I also posted on my own page and someone from work has bought it for her teenage daughter :T £35 cash for a bike that has been lingering in the storage room for over 5 years. This has definitely spurred me on as I am determined to have a free Christmas this year."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0

Just sneaking on before my 10am start today, don't finish until 9pm tonight and I am aiming for another NSD. My giving up for lent pledge is to not spend any money at work AT ALL. This means no sneaky latte coffees or the odd pack of mix up (they do a lovely sweetie mix up for a £1).
Sun is shining today and it was a little bit lighter when I got out of bed this morning. Scales are going in the right direction too. Roll on spring, I love to see the new life pushing through in the garden."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
I have been thinking about what our plans are after our DFD (2nd time around). Having read a few blogs that I find interesting e.g the frugalwoods I stumbled across the MMM (Mr Money Moustache) and can only say that I felt like a light bulb akin to one used in a light house has just been switched on.
What the hell have we been doing all of these years!!!!! If anyone has any remote interest in personal finance philosophy and living a happy but frugal life where work is a choice then I would recommend this site.
Needless to say I am on a mission when I calculated that I could actually save enough in the next 10 years to have full financial freedom at age 53. If we really commit to this it can be done in 7 years so me age 50 and OH 58. This can be achieved by some very simple maths and some simple living.
DS1 has already bought into this philosophy and is well on his way to financial freedom by the age of 30!!!!!! I have never been so excited and motivated by something so much since I first read The Money Diet book waaayyyyyyy back.
I am also thinking of starting a blog of our journey. Not sure about that though
This diary will come to an end on my DFD and leading up to that will be my frugalities and extra money making.
Wish me luck "These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Half term - money making and frugality
Extra Earnings -
FD CC sign up - £25 incentive
T$B Switch - £100
Z1ffit books - £20
Bike sale - £35
Total so far for Feb £180
Money Saving
Cancel WW subs £6.95 p/m (sneakily caught me out)
Cancel charity donation £8 I feel slightly guilty for this but my plan is to donate more when I have financial freedom. I have kept the £4.35 donation which is also a lottery ticket.
Savings per year £179.40
Thats £359.40 for the pot.
I am tracking surveys separately and will update these monthly."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

I'm really pleased for you. I've looked at Mr Money Moustache a few times and it's never connected with me that much - maybe I will try again. I'm always looking for more inspiration and today I'm feeling a bit down and frustrated with our financial situation.

Thanks CCL, I guess the timing is just right for us regarding MMM and Frugalwoods, we spend a heap of money on eating out and the last few times I haven't really appreciated it. I have noticed that we have started to find fault in little things which means we are possibly turning into spoilt adult brats:rotfl: I am working out the maths and trying to do this in yearly chunks.
I won't be cycling everywhere though, I work 15 miles away down a motorway:eek:
My first plan of action is to sell anything that is a burden to us at the moment which means a good clear out of the attic and boys rooms. There is a full size weight bench including weights, a scorpion vivarium thing (looks scary ad still has dead scorpion in it), 2 x computer desks a computer chair and heaps and I mean mountainous amounts of toys.:o"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0
