Hey-ho, just hung out some washing and it's started to rain.....
But I can already see a break in the clouds, so I'm going to leave it out for an wxtra rinse.
Had a lovely time yesterday with DD, DS1, DDiL1 and the four oldest grandchildren. Not being sure how hungry everyone would be, I cooked 2 large lasagne, chicken joints *and* sausages for tea with whoopsied Anya potatoes *nom-nom* and green veg. Plenty left over, so that's the meal planning sorted for the next few days
DH ran his garden railway all afternoon with the help of DGS1+2, two 8yo boys from Chernobyl, and next-door-but one's 3yo grandson. They all had a grand time
Meanwhile DD helped me set up the pump for the bubbly fountain in the raised bed and also staked our little pear tree, which is covered in fruit
I need to find some energy and go and plant out the rest of the bits for the back garden, then do some more work on the raised bed, but I am shattered.
Bossy, you are a brilliant mum and your children are very lucky and also a great credit to you.
CY, hope the improvement continues.
Welcome, Wildesavings - hope your DD feels better soon.
Valli, you obviously needed the sleep.
And now the sun is shining again, and the next load of washing will soon be ready to hang out0 -
I've cleared my ironing basket this morning
Did help that DD didn't emerge from her bed until gone midday, but I spent the morning catching up on TV on the freeview box from June! I still have all of July's programmes to catch up on but they can wait a little longer as DD is now busy doing an exercise DVD in the livingroom so I'm in my bedroom with her laptop so I can catch up with other TV while I label/delabel uniform. I've managed 2 loads of towels this morning and when they're dry I'm going to jump in the shower as I have work at 6pm but I'm a bit whiffy from 3 hours of ironing and a dog climbing all over me whenever he's had the chance. Tea is planned, and will just need cooking so I'll throw that on about 4.30 so we can eat at 5pm, we'll just have to have supper after work if we're hungry
I best get on with this labelling :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Hi all
Just flicked through. Its hard having to work in the holidays. I used to feel guilty a lot and Bossy I know that feeling when it seems like you are not quite giving everything your best. But you just do what you can, and I admire your attitude and your cheerfulness.
I am just having five minutes. LR just needs dusting. Liver and bacon in the oven. DS1 will have a pork chop with some of our gravy.
DS2 is at his cousins so I will pick him up later after an evening meeting that I have to cover for work. I feel slightly guilty about the amount of time he spends at his cousins, but his cousin lives in town and we live in the middle of nowhere where there is nothing to do I am told! My SIL says its fine as he keeps her son entertained. I must try and organise a day out for both of them next week.
Oh and I havent even bought school uniform yet, never mind labelling it. DS just needs shirts I think.0 -
Wildesavings welcome! Toots was a lovely lady, and the inspiration behind what we call a "Toots List" - All it is, is a list of all the outstanding tasks that you never quite seem to get a handle on - it's different for all of us, so you need to write your own!;)
FROGS are little piddlin' jobs that take a shorter time to do that the time it takes to prevaricate and put them off.:D
Personally, I've incorporated them into a single list, which I will now post, to give you some idea of what I mean. Btw, I'm a fan of colour coding!!:D

However, I have managed to achieve something today; we're dogless til Thursday afternoon, so I have taken the opportunity to remove the throw (very heavy!) from the sofa, sling it over the washing line and give it a good beat (as one would a carpet) with the tennis racket.
As it's a bad year for fleas, although I haven't seen any little "passengers" on any guests, I've also done a quick preventative spray of 4Fleas over the bungalow - if there are any lurking, they'll be suitably bumped off.;)
It just seemed like a good plan, while we're between guests.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Changed the boys beds and found the partners to all the odd socks down the sides of them.
I can see carpet in both rooms now

I wouldn't dare post my Toots list, given I had the kitchen fitted 4 years ago (I think!) and the new door and adjacent skirting boards are still bare wood.
And I stripped the wallpaper in the lounge ready for redecorating IN OCTOBER.
Both these jobs are on my Toots list.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Ok if we are confessing Dh hung new doors throughout about 4 years ago, they still have bare wood where he cut them to fit as I've not got round to painting that part yet.
More stuff in the Cs bag and another load in the wm
Setting ironing board back up to Finnish the last few bits off now they are dry.SPC~12 ot 124

Quick question. I've read the welcome guide in the link and would love a look at Toot's master list for the whole house but the link no longer works. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you x
This is toots welcome guide, if that helps xxx

I think I need to do myself a Toots list, we moved into our house in January and there are so many big and little jobs that need doing. It would be helpful to have a big list of everything! (and I do love a list)Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️
